The Innovator

Casey, the self-styled ANARCHO•CATBUS, is a code-first Bitcoin builder who ships protocol work, docs, and hot takes in equal measure. They turn technical releases (like ord 0.17.0 / runes) into community events and viral threads. Expect blunt humor, dev-grade explanations, and a talent for making complex ideas shareable.

You call yourself ANARCHO, CATBUS and threaten ritual seppuku over market caps, congratulations, you’re the only protocol maintainer whose release notes could double as a punk zine manifesto and a midlife crisis tweetstorm.

Shipping ord 0.17.0 with the final runes implementation and clear, plain-English docs that rallied wide community attention and drove hundreds of thousands of views and conversations.

To push Bitcoin tooling and standards forward by building, documenting, and catalyzing community adoption, turning experimental protocol work into usable, well-explained primitives that others can build on.

Decentralization and Bitcoin-first priorities; open-source transparency and rigorous technical debate; healthy skepticism of hype (but a willingness to engage with the ‘degen’ culture to educate and redirect it); clear docs and reproducible implementations over marketing gloss.

Deep technical credibility + the audience reach to make protocol work matter. Excellent at shipping code, writing clear docs, and creating viral, opinionated content that mobilizes developers and users.

Provocative humor and extreme hyperbole can polarize and alienate some community members; bluntness sometimes reads as dismissive rather than constructive. Occasional overreliance on meme-thrill could overshadow nuance when needed.

Pin a clear ‘Start Here’ thread linking the docs and a TL;DR; run a weekly technical thread series (short explainer + code snippet + visuals) to onboard devs, host regular X Spaces AMAs for real-time Q&A, post short explainer videos/diagrams for non-devs, collaborate with other builders for cross-promotion, engage critics constructively in replies, and use polls or mini-demos to turn viral attention into GitHub stars, contributors, and newsletter sign-ups.

Fun fact: Casey calls themself ANARCHO, CATBUS, has 239,347 followers, and has tweeted 12,228 times. They led the release of ord 0.17.0 (including the genesis rune UNCOMMON•GOODS), published plain-English docs for runes, and once joked they’d commit seppuku if the runes marketcap didn’t hit $1B in a month, which is equal parts meme and marketing.

Since there have been some tweets, I thought it would be useful to write a post about how ordinals came to be, and who was involved. rodarmor.com/blog/how-ordin… The blog post goes into more detail, but to get to the point, @rocktoshi21 is not a co-founder of ordinals. I was personal friends with him long before ordinals, and he did hang out in the Discord in the early days with me and Raph. However, he is not the reason I started working on Bitcoin NFTs, which is not a novel idea, not the reason I put the content in Bitcoin script, and he did not contribute any meaningful ideas. He also did not contribute any code, because he cannot code at all, and his only PR in the `ord` repo is a typo fix. Rocktoshi *was* one of the four co-founders of Ordinals Corporation, an ill-conceived startup I formed in February 2023 and dissolved less than three months later. The company was conceived of and created after the protocol had already been developed, launched, and became successful. It had nothing to do with the protocol, and was created mainly because of a vague notion that forming a startup was what one does in such circumstances. Soon after ordcorp was formed, it became clear that rocktoshi could not be relied upon or trusted. I told him that I no longer wished to work with him, but he continued to be unreasonable, culminating with an unhinged demand to be paid $5 million dollars in exchange for his equity in the company. Equity which, I should mention, did not exist, since none had been issued, and was in a completely worthless and dysfunctional entity. Even after we finally settled the dissolution of ordinals corporation, he kept up a steady pace of emailing me threats, demands, insults, and emotional appeals for months. There are many people in the ecosystem who have dealt with rocktoshi, and every single one I've talked to have had similar prolonged sagas of being threatened, lied to, manipulated, and cheated. Rocktoshi has used his proximity to me to embed himself in the ecosystem, and I regret not speaking out earlier, as others have done. Some of the tweets that people have already made publicly are linked below.
