Twitter Video Transcript Generator: X Video to Text

Paste any tweet URL and get the full transcript of its video, with timestamps. Copy it, search it, or download .txt, .srt or .vtt subtitles. Works on twitter.com and x.com. Free, no signup.

Works with x.com, twitter.com and mobile.twitter.com links.

How to get the transcript of a Twitter video

  1. Copy the post link. Find the tweet with the video. In the X app, tap the share icon and choose Copy link. On the web, copy the URL from the address bar.
  2. Paste it and click Get Transcript. Paste the link into the box above. The tool reads the post, finds the video and pulls its captions.
  3. Read, search or export. Turn timestamps on or off, search for a word, then copy the text or download it as .txt, .srt or .vtt.

What to do with a Twitter video transcript

Where the transcript comes from

X generates captions for most videos with speech. They're the subtitles you see when a video autoplays on mute. This tool reads that caption track directly, so you get the same words X shows, with X's own timing.

Some videos have no captions: older uploads, very new posts X hasn't processed yet, and some languages. For those, the tool listens to the audio and writes the transcript with AI speech-to-text. It works for videos up to 15 minutes and still gives you timestamps. The result card always tells you which source was used.

Timestamps, SRT and VTT

With timestamps on, each line starts with the moment it's spoken (1:05, 12:40), so you can find the part you need. Turn them off to get clean paragraphs you can paste into a doc, a blog post or a thread draft.

The downloads cover the common formats:

  • .txt: plain text, with or without timestamps, matching what you see on screen.
  • .srt: numbered subtitle cues. Works in Premiere, CapCut, DaVinci Resolve and YouTube Studio.
  • .vtt: WebVTT, the subtitle format browsers and most web video players read.

X video to text: twitter.com and x.com links

Twitter became X in 2023, but posts, IDs and videos stayed the same. Paste a twitter.com link, an x.com link, a mobile.twitter.com link or a link ending in /video/1, and you get the same transcript.

If you paste a profile link (x.com/username with no /status/ part), the tool asks for a post link instead. If the post has a GIF or photos rather than a video, it tells you so. GIFs on X have no sound.

Transcribe a Twitter video on your phone

Open this page in Safari or Chrome on your phone. In the X app, tap the share icon on the post, choose Copy link, paste it above and tap Get Transcript. Copy puts the whole transcript on your clipboard, ready for Notes, Docs or a reply.
