Never thought I’d ever see this in California.

I have the aisle seat. Woman has the middle seat. Nobody sits in the window seat. And yet, she remains in middle seat on a 3.5 hour flight. I don’t get it.

So tired of the sloppiness at airports! Stop wearing joggers or sweatpants or flip flops. People look like they literally crawled out of bed. Bring back the airline culture of the 50’s!

I’ll never get the sweatpants at the airport. Not saying wear a suit when you fly, but at least look respectable. And yes, you can look respectable and be comfortable. I just don’t buy that excuse.

This new trend of asking for a tip when you walk up to a counter at a restaurant to order is absurd. I’m not tipping you to take my order and hand it to me at the counter. Anyone disagree?

Waiting in a line for the bathroom in a bar in NYC last night. Th girl in front of me turns and says “why are you in this bar?” I’m like wait, what? She says “have you looked around? You’re way too old for this place.” 😂😂😂

I grilled steaks for my girlfriend & myself last night. At the grocery store, I bought 2 Steaks, ingredients for a salad, 2 baked potatoes & brussels sprouts. The total was $62. The steaks were as good as any I’ve had at a restaurant. We had a $30 bottle of wine. All in my total - $92 bucks That meal out would have cost me easy $250-300. Crazy what we’re willing to pay just for atmosphere….

And so it begins... Zips Car Wash - a 260 store operator owned by a Private Equity shop, just filed BK. Cited a massive influx of competition that came into the car wash space AND burdensome lease obligations as some of their rationale for the filing. If you read the BK filings, you'll see they have Hilco playing offense to negotiate rent reductions on their leases, and they plan on rejecting 39 of their locations. More I'm sure to come in the car wash space....

A woman reached out to me on Facebook. She got caught in a romance scam with someone using my photos and scammed her to the tune of $250,000. I got sick to my stomach. My photos, including those of my kids and family, have been used over the past 3-4 years to scam countless women. Fake profiles on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and every dating app. The romance scam industry is a $2-3 billion dollar industry annually. Both vulnerable men and women are victimized from these crime syndicates. They’re sophisticated and organized. And often run by mafia type organizations. Scammers are trained and provided with tools for their scam. I wish I could do more to create awareness.

I just spent the last 6 days in New York City. We all know December in NYC is something special. I’ve been coming for the last five years during this time, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen the city as electric as it was this past week. Restaurants and bars were packed, the streets were alive, and the energy was festive and celebratory. Everywhere I looked, people were embracing the season—laughing, dining, shopping, and just soaking it all in. And here’s the thing: don’t believe everything you read. The narrative of NYC as a war-torn, violent place overrun by chaos? That’s not what I experienced. Sure, the city has its problems. New York City is alive and well.

Dentists are a racket. Went in for a teeth cleaning earlier this year. Cost is $180. I didn’t realize that I can opt for just the cleaning and not have a dentist exam. I opted out of exam. So now cost is $90 for cleaning only. That means the dentist gets paid $90 for roughly less than 5 minutes of their time. I’m in the wrong profession.

My father was a devoted student of the Bible. As a kid, I remember him at our kitchen table every morning, pen in hand, deep in scripture. He passed away five years ago, but recently, my mom had one of his favorite Bibles—worn and overused—re-bound. She gifted it to my middle daughter, Abby, for her birthday. Abby was in tears when she received it. She said the gift meant so much to her because it was something used and cherished by her granddad. A couple of weeks ago, she shared with me how much she loves seeing his handwritten notes on almost every page. Even now, he’s still pouring wisdom into my kids. What a legacy.

Eating out and solo is underrated. Many are afraid to do it. But you never know what you’ll encounter. Do you do it?

Could we get an executive order banning sweatpants and crocs in airports?

Classic example of how inefficient the State of California is. Tried to make an appointment with the local DMV. The earliest I could make one is May 20th. That’s wild.
