you don’t really get what you chase. you get what your nervous system quietly orbits around when you’re not watching. all the goal-setting, whiteboard-humping, dopamine-gymnastics are temporary. explicit pursuit burns out. vague compulsion compounds. the subconscious runs a kind of distributed optimization algorithm: slow, energy-efficient, self-correcting. it drifts through failure, fatigue, distraction, but never really stops. meanwhile your “motivation” evaporates the second your blood sugar drops. so yeah, you’ll probably end up where your background processes were pointed all along. the tragedy is that alignment is rare. you might wake up one day having perfectly achieved a goal you never meant to have. whether that’s a win or a curse depends entirely on what part of you was steering.

a woman in the wilderness builds a supercomputer that is off-grid, self-repairing, non-toxic, blends with nature. now picture your smartphone, the wand of a wizard... but the network that built it is monster of supply chains, toxicity, geopolitical dependencies. if the grid aws dies tomorrow, your marvel becomes museum scrap. you may say that future archeologists will find the phone, plug in a solar charger, find the Grokipedia offline, and bootstrap civilization, right? but we want the replicator, not the phone. power loves concentration. the centralized network can be weaponized, toolmakers don’t like decentralized. so we can ask ourselves “am I building tech to centralize or to decentralize?” that question alone shrieks with urgency. industrial tech that concentrates power: bad. distributed tech that liberates: good. biology is doing the heavy lifting now, with human DNA = ~6 GB. you couldn’t store that in the 1970s, but today it’s seconds with an SSD. biology is non-toxic, efficient, decentralized, alien-free, uneven. that’s the tech stack. biology didn’t wait for industry. industry waits for biology. aim to build tech that can’t be untangled from its narrative of liberation. build tech that gives freedom, not chains. no fully mapped plan yet. but if you build technology, at least align with the axis: centralize vs decentralize. if you pick the wrong side, and our tech becomes the infrastructure of eternal prison, you won’t even know you’re locked in.
