I’m having flashbacks. It’s Sunday afternoon back in Beverly Hills 19 years ago. Gorgeous day I’m sitting outside in the sun reading a book hoping that this will be the one. It was the early days of doing this work. Gosh, I was so confused back then. Didn’t know what I was even looking for let alone how to find it! I had this incredible job at Goldman Sachs that I no longer wanted. For some 6 years I’d been pouring through books like this “trying” to figure out what I did want. Book after book. Writing page after page. Thinking that if I just kept looking for the answer I would find it. It felt hard because I was working day and night at Goldman while trying to figure this out. Of the hundreds of books I read and thousands of pages I wrote I still hadn’t discovered the book or idea that would get this figured out. I'm thinking, like what is this life about? I had this incredible job, was I supposed to just be happy with this? Was there something wrong with me? Was I looking at it wrong? I didn’t even know who to ask because most my work friends didn’t love it but had accepted it. Plenty of other people saw that I had this top job so what was the fuss all about? But I knew. I knew that there was this life that I truly wanted. Where I’d wake up every day loving it. Just, what was it? How to create it!? As confusing as it was I just knew that if you keep going you’ll figure it out. 19 years later I still don’t have it all figured out! But I’m no longer confused, I'm no longer reading those books, no longer writing notes to myself “trying” to figure this out. It’s all so clear, I have a certain method, I’m living it, doing what I want obsessed with serving other people doing what you want. These flashbacks I’m looking back to me 19 years ago saying that you will find a way. Keep dreaming, keep holding onto your vision and keep moving forward. You are on the journey living the life you truly want.

Ask how. So much advice you see is surface level. Not always because they have nothing more to offer but because it's better marketing to talk about the why. I do it myself. Because for most the 15+ years I've been doing this I went deep with people "trying" to convey exactly how you do these things. You know what happened? Nothing. You lay out a playbook for people and you lose in this world. It's been one of the hardest things for me because I only care about how you actually achieve things. This is why I never listen to podcasts. Why I read thousands of self-help books desperately asking, where are the actual answers? You learn self-help was taken over by marketers. Few people are doing the work. So you're getting surface level stuff like stories and quotes and how some person thought hundreds of years ago like that's valuable for you. Or people saying you just have to change your inner voice. Or get beyond your fear. Just do it! Ask them how and you see the river runs dry. Legit teachers who I respect you never find mass market because they're not masters of marketing but masters of craft. So publicly you're mostly left with marketers saying same old same old compelling you with why. Because lots of people want the why. They need inspiration and motivation. But if you're a serious pro looking to actually achieve. Ask how

The Matrix is trending so let's talk simulation. A false question is, "Do we live in a simulation?" Nobody could "live in" a simulation and this question just subverts the obvious truth— The simulation lives in you. This isn't some out there theory. It is 100% provable in your own experience. Right now you can prove it to yourself just by imagining what your home looks like. That brain of yours can simulate walking through your home same way it can simulate walking on the surface of the moon. Nothing more to prove. Your brain is simulating your reality. Only question is how much? In a dream you know it is 100% simulating your reality. What about in the waking state? All day every day it is bouncing around having thoughts about this that and the other thing. Thinking back on the past it is simulating what happened, playing movies, having emotions, every time "re-membering" making it up again and again. Same on the future. Your brain can simulate infinite potential futures, all or none which could be "real." Just, by simulating it's your reality now. Painfully many brains are constantly simulating fear projecting into uncertainty a negative future. It's never your fault the negativity bias of the brain makes it automatic. That's the simulation. The brain simulates how it is programmed. And you can take control of that brain and simulate what you want 🕶️
