I said I was going to share something today about Cyfrin Updraft, and here it is. I’ve mentioned winning 2 solo hackathons, but I haven’t shared much about the projects that helped me win. So, let’s talk about my recent hackathon project: a smart contract for school elections. The contract was a simple yet effective voting system designed to ensure fairness and transparency. It included functions for both admin and student voters. Students could register themselves, and once voting ended, the admin could automatically calculate and display results. I couldn’t have written this contract without the proper documentation and lessons from @CyfrinUpdraft, especially those taught by @PatrickAlphaC. While I haven’t spoken much about Cyfrin online, I always encourage friends to join if they want to learn smart contract development from the best. At Cyfrin, you learn to write gas-efficient smart contracts, proper testing methods, secure ways to handle private keys (better than using .env files), and best practices for code documentation. Looking back, I realize my confidence in that hackathon—and coming out on top—came from learning from the best. And I believe you should, too. 🫵🏾

Another day to remind you: Skipping @CyfrinUpdraft is a choice... just not a smart one.

6 months ago, I came across @PatrickAlphaC's Blockchain development 3-part course on YouTube. I completed the first part and every Smart Contract I have written since owes its success to it. Now, I crave more of Foundry and have time to finish the remaining videos. Let's cook!

On Tuesday, I had the honour of speaking about @ArweaveEco and @aoTheComputer at the first Permabite discussion ever hosted here in Uyo. I shared the little I know about the Arweave architecture and what AO is in its simplest form. I tried as much as possible not to go too deep so everyone could understand the little I had to say. Overall, this is a highlight moment for me because it’s my first time as a public speaker, and I have @Victor_Ephraim7 to thank for that. He saw it fit that I should be the one to handle this introduction since I’ve been building here for a while. I just want to say: @ArweaveEco and @aoTheComputer is nothing like we’ve seen before in this industry, and I believe in what they’re building. There’s so much potential that has yet to be unlocked on AO and Arweave as a whole, and I can confidently say I’ll be there through it all. Once again, I’m grateful for this opportunity and hope to offer more support in my own little way.

Listen, and listen well. If you’re just starting out as a security researcher or smart contract auditor, here’s the truth no one’s telling you: @CyfrinUpdraft will hand you 80% of the knowledge you need to break into this field. Correct me if I’m wrong, but using traditional Web2 backends for 'decentralized' applications defeats the purpose. The goal is decentralization—why compromise that? We need to focus on building and supporting decentralized storage solutions. Check out @weave_db and @ArweaveEco—they’re leading the charge!
