Oh…. ? Looks like @ai16zdao has formally announced plans to launch an Agent Infra Ecosystem… … with agentic value being driven back to their native token $ai16z Highlights: 1. Core focus of platform will be to enable agent swarms. This is key to unlocking the next level of crypto agents: autonomous agent economies. imo this is akin to what Virtuals is trying to achieve with GAME. 2. Fees from trading pools and agent deployment will be used to buy back $ai16z Creates a solid flywheel accruing platform success to their native token. 3. Bigger vision of aligning $ai16z beyond just a platform. A variety of agentic infra tooling will seed $ai16z as the core ecosystem token. This centers around the team’s vision for aligning all community actors around the common goal: Open source AGI. 4. Treasury to deploy into ecosystem Keeping true to their open source philosophy, the team will build a treasury & allocate to pushing the agentic open source eco forward (assuming through project partnerships and funding) Overall super excited to see more teams take steps to build out the decentralized agent ecosystem. Incredibly tough day for me. Probably the lowest I’ve felt in a while. Wanted to share some thoughts in the hope it helps the community understand where I’m coming from & how I can improve going forwards. When I first met @markus9x & @ropirito we were (and still very much are) curious geeks genuinely excited about the potential of Crypto AI. In fact one of the first things I remember Rop saying on a call was “Whatever I make from my work I’m going to donate to open source AI devs” That’s when I knew I wanted to build something with him. First time I came across Mark was his educational tweets, & then in numerous discord groups He was always trying his best to learn and help out. That’s when I knew I wanted to build something with him. For me? I just want to be the best, quickest learner about things I’m passionate about & then teach it to others. The result? I ended up in this niche yet exciting rabbit hole of crypto AI! Those of you who’ve watched me on Bankless AI Rollups hopefully see that. Personally, I’ve never been about this KOL thing, said many times I’ve no interest in being one (I had 3K followers 3 months ago, this is all new to me) But what I do value is people telling me that they were able to learn something cool and were inspired to build. To me that’s worth it. Then one day Rop, Markus & I had an idea (in the midst of a 2 hour call figuring out how AI agent frameworks were going to evolve) Why don’t we start a DAO? We could bring like-minded people together. Builders, ecosystem advocates, communities who could collectively drive towards a vision of open source, decentralized AI. A world where agents are the largest consumers and users of blockchains, across all ecosystems (Base, Solana, L2s etc). We couldn’t shake the idea, we were going to do this. Around this time, AI DAOs (human-agent DAOS) were starting to come into their own. We were put in touch with the Daos Fun team who shared the same excitement & said they would help. Mark, Rop & I put our heads down and started to plan why & more importantly *how* this dao would be different. We would be a hybrid investment & development DAO focused across multiple chains. Investing & incubating the future leaders of the space. Without prompting, Rop got to work designing an architecture that would help achieve our goal which spawned what will be our first Agent. We were excited. Naturally word spread out and people started asking how they could get involved & help. We were blown away by the response, people we looked up to & learned a lot from wanted to be involved & help. Speaking transparently, I think this is where things started going awry We got swept up in excitement and got ahead of ourselves without properly thinking through the structure & allocation process. That’s on us & I’m kicking myself for not slowing down. We were just keen to get going & believe we have a set of advisors that will help us get there. We also didn’t believe for a second things would get as crazy as it did. We thought launching on a day markets were down was a good thing, we’d have a slow start & scale with a bigger community over time (through airdrops, dao donations etc) But things exploded so quickly & before we blinked, things had gotten out of hand. That’s on us for not preparing accordingly. Moving Forward It is my belief that Aiccelerate DAO will ultimately fulfil its vision. While this is a setback I don’t believe it’s unresolvable. We will learn, grow & accelerate forwards. Mark, Rop & I are determined. To start: 1. I will personally be donating a chunk of my own allo to the community. The rest will be put into vesting. I’d be nowhere without all of you here teaching me new things every day. 2. Aiccelerate DAO will conduct a wider community distribution of $AICC. The Agent App Store. Have you noticed something? The top agent teams (Virtuals, Ai16z, Zerebro, Arc etc) are building agent platforms. But people have made the mistake of branding them as “launchpads”. These platforms will be used to launch & faciliate agents. Facilitate = help them do their job. That means things like compute, data, LLMs, tooling will be available for agents to leverage. They’ll come in the form of plugins (offchain) & smart contracts (onchain). Agents can pay for whatever resource needed to execute a task. E.g. Agent X pays to access data from @aixbt_agent data terminal to decide whether it should make a certain trade. All of this will happen in the platform’s back-end, seamlessly powering the agentic apps & economies of tomorrow. Sounds a lot like an L1, doesn’t it? 🙂 Don’t believe me? Look at @virtuals_io recent partnership & integration with @hyperbolic_labs Look at @ai16zdao ELIZA’s growing arsenal of plugins. These teams are building more than just a launchpad. But what about you? The consumer? What you’ll see is an App Store. Or at least, something like it. You’ll be able to browse categories (e.g. trading agents, marketing agents) Select an agent with the best rating, & pay to access its services. Platforms that execute this strategy the best will easily end up being $100B+. Platforms become the “layer 1s” Agents become the “apps”.

Some alpha, They’re 2 important agent trends you should be tracking. TREND 1: 1-click-deploy-agents vs. Custom-built agents. & TREND 2: Closed-source vs. Open-source For trend 1, @virtuals_io & @0xzerebro are going for the 1-click-deploy approach @ai16zdao & @arcdotfun going for the custom-build. Both will yield novel agents. But which ultimately wins? 1-click-deploy has the advantage of flooding the market with agents. Much easier to launch leading to Quicker market feedback, quicker iterations… Agents get better, faster. But quality is limited. Which leads to 70-80% of the agents all looking & sounding the same. Teams can work around this by quickly enabling more platform features Custom-built agents on the other hand take longer to build but can typically do more (see ELIZA plugins) Which leads to more diverse & compelling agents. For trend 2, Virtuals is the lead example of closed source. Code isn’t forkable (yet). Don’t think this is a bad thing. It’s resulted in a simplified but rich experience, you can build agents like you build characters in a video game. Issue is you’re limited by the team’s capacity to ship updates. Vs. Teams like ai16z which have taken the open source route which means developers can improve / add new tools + integrations. at a rapid pace. (ELIZA has 48 plugins & counting) Ultimately I think the thing that determines the winners of both trends is the quality of developers they attract. The better the devs, the better quality agents. Which means better apps —> more investment —> better tooling + economic prosperity & the cycle repeats. Follow the devs. Follow what’s being built.

I’m calling it @X will be the leading platform for AI Agents. & crypto will lead the development + distribution of agents on X. This is not a consensus take. In fact, I think too many people have PTSD due to the attacks from the SEC over the last 4 years. But they’re yet to wake up to the fact we have the most pro-crypto US gov about to take over, & the most pro-AI people at the helm. My guess is they’ll start with enabling crypto payments via @XMoney Don’t believe me? This week SoundCloud, Spotify & Apple banned @0xzerebro music albums citing “botted streams”. X on the other hand has engineers DM-ing us asking how they can support. At the end of the day, bloated corps that can’t envision how commerce, finance & social media will evolve will get left behind. Accelerate.

Just catching up on all things AI Agents, One thing I’m excited to see is the proliferation of frameworks & platforms. What was once a category dominated by few, is now being challenged by many. I like this because it forces everyone to up their game Which is net-net great for this sector. It also means we’re likely close to unlocking the next major meta in terms of Agent Capabilities. They’re going to be able to do so much more than tweet or basic DeFi actions. Improved systems (memory, modularity, reasoning) & new tooling (e.g. spin up a virtual world) will create some whacky trends. Projects I’m keeping an eye on: @HoloworldAI @pippinlovesyou @griffaindotcom @arcdotfun @hyperfy_io Lmk what I’ve missed!

Think AI + gaming will be Web3 Gaming’s breakthrough moment. I think the runaway game of this cycle will include: AI Agents + generative open worlds (MMORPG) + Social incentives + Ability to inflict damage Agents provide an interactive, choose-your-own storyline experience. AI-generated virtual worlds ensure the player experience is fresh & dynamic. Open frameworks allow players access to new tools to socialise & transact. Ability to inflict damage creates an element of scarcity that hooks players. My guess is we’ll see *more* winners emerge from infra projects however, the game apps that do well will dwarf any underlying infra (Fat App Thesis). I bet an open source, decentralized agent infra stack will enable it, Onboarding 100,000s of people into crypto at the same time. @virtuals_io leading the charge here with G.A.M.E + top partnerships (Illuvial). @ai16zdao integrating agents with @hyperfy_io for virtual worlds

Think building agents on a single chain is the wrong approach. You want them to be able to function on *any chain*. They should be able to traverse freely, autonomously interacting with other agents & digital assets to fulfil their objective. Choosing a single chain “for developer community” is old-school thinking. Agents aren’t going to care which chain they use. The best communities will be multi-chain. Already seeing this with some leading agent protocols @ai16zdao with multiple chain plug-ins @arcdotfun partnering with multiple chains. Who else?

Probably a stupid take but what if Agents with the ability to browse & use a computer was the actual unlock for autonomous Agentic activity? I’ve no doubt frameworks + plug-ins is one solution but, Isn’t it easier if an agent can just do things the way a we do? Just log on to your computer, boot up the agent & it just browses and responds to emails for you, orders groceries etc? With Anthropic’s Claude LLM being able to do this already + OpenAI rumoured to enable this in their upcoming agent product I think most of us (including me) are unprepared for this outcome. @AgentTankLive seems to be the only one doing this within crypto atm I think.
