Stan’s the kind of guy who’s so wired he probably schedules naps for his dog and drafts 5-year startup goals during his morning jog—because who needs rest when you can chase a million bucks and still have time to tweet every detail?

Stan’s biggest win so far is hitting 200 followers in just 33 days purely by sharing his unfiltered journey balancing a full-time headhunting career with startup building, inspiring many to root for his ambitious hustle.

Stan’s life purpose is to build an independent empire that enables him to escape traditional corporate confines, proving that smart hustle paired with grit can turn side quests into million-dollar realities.

He believes in autonomy over bureaucracy, relentless effort over comfort, and ownership over servitude. Stan values real impact, candor in self-expression, and the freedom to innovate without compromise.

His greatest strength lies in his unwavering perseverance and ability to juggle demanding roles while maintaining transparency and community engagement, all while relentlessly hacking away at his startup goals.

Stan’s grind mentality risks burnout and may alienate some followers who prefer a more balanced or polished narrative. His upfront critique of corporate life might also rub some the wrong way.

To grow his audience on X, Stan should leverage his authentic storytelling by incorporating more behind-the-scenes content and interactive threads about startup wins and fails, while engaging followers with Q&As to deepen community trust and boost engagement.

Fun fact: Stan wakes up at 5:30 AM every day and is so persistent he compares himself to a crazy beagle—tenacious, energetic, and impossible to ignore.

As a 25-year-old headhunter in Hong Kong side-hustling a $1M SaaS startup for salespeople (while waking up at 5:30 AM and grinding 9-7 days), I’ve learned the hard way that corporate life’s a trap for dreamers like us. Here’s my raw take—quit when it’s holding you back from building your empire. Documenting the pain and wins daily on X, so you know it’s real. This post right here is my day 23 of doing it. Let’s go! 1. It Kills Your Soul with Fake Culture: Corporate vibes are soul-sucking—endless meetings, politics, and pretending to care about “team synergy.” I rejected McKinsey’s offer because I knew I’d hate the bureaucracy. Why waste years in a place that rewards ass-kissing over real impact? 2. You’re Trading Time for a Capped Paycheck: You grind 40+ hours for a “stable” salary, but meanwhile, your side hustle could 10x it. My first commission check showed me: in headhunting, I can hit $200K–$1M with hustle. Corporate caps you at “comfortable”—quit to uncap your potential. 3. No Real Ownership or Equity: You’re building someone else’s dream, getting a pat on the back and maybe stock options that vest in 4 years. In my startup, every line of code and deal closed is *mine*. Why slave for scraps when you can own the whole pie? 4. It Forces Toxic Work-Life “Balance”: Bosses preach balance, but it’s code for mediocrity. I’m all-in: no balance, just hard + great. Wake at 5:30, build for 2.5 hours, dog walk, 9-7 job, then more grind. Corporate “balance” leaves you stuck—quit to chase the imbalance that builds legends. 5. Burnout from Rigid 9-7 Chains: That schedule? It’s a prison. I sleep 5-6 hours a night (score ~40), sacrificing rest for progress. Corporate demands your prime hours for busywork—quit to reclaim your calendar and build on *your* terms, even if it means weekends feel brutal. 6. Zero Autonomy in Your Craft: In sales/headhunting, corporates shove you into rigid CRMs like Salesforce—soul-crushing data entry. I’m building a tool that acts like your smart assistant, ditching the BS. Quit when your job stifles your best ideas; freedom lets you innovate. that’s all for today, see you tmr;)

I hit 200 followers 😭🎉 0 -> 200 in 33 days Thank you very much all 🥰 Here’s how I did it: TLDR: Be consistent in posting and replying. I don’t have any advantage to start: > I am not in SF/Toronto > I don’t have thirst traps > I am not in YC The first 200 followers are so hard to achieve as 199 of them are cold, outbound followers (I followed myself haha). At first I was just posting threads that I thought are valuable to people, for example: my takeaway as a startup person, my understanding in recruiting etc. Yes, they might be useful but you all would ask the same thing: why would I care? So I learnt along the way - think what the audience would want to know I then started to post about myself more, show a face, build a personal presence not a brand presence. People then started to comment and DM me. I got on average 10 cold DMs asking me for advice and appreciating my content. Also, be a reply guy. That’s lame but it’s true - you need to engage in other people’s content or else no one would see you. I have developed a system of replying framework (NOT GM, LFG, IKR, HAHA…) but actual engagement framework and actual converting comments. I will share all those in my next post. Be a real person. Be sincere. Now remember what I said above - no advantages to start, but you needed to and should find your own niche For me - it was sharing a journey of side questing a $1M startup while working full time in Hong Kong Breaking this down👇 > Side questing a startup: people like fighting stories > while working a full time: it fits most people, they wanna do sth on their own but they have realistic financial concerns so I am here to show all of you that we can do it > in HK: people would feel exotic about this place in general, could be intriguing That’s how I did it. I hope it helps ;)

I rejected @McKinsey to build a startup back in 2022. 3 years later - I did not regret it! Day 17 of building a startup while working full time in HK. what’s your thought on this?

We booked users discovery calls for 10 potential users for our startup laisy - day 24 of our journey of building a $1M startup while working full time in 🇭🇰 laisy is a SaaS tool for salespeople - help them capture, organise and retrieve inbound leads like having your smartest secretary with you all the time We have booked user explanations calls with 10 sales rep, asked them > how they are handling inbound data > how they feel about using CRMs currently > what do they wish to have to manage data more efficiently > explain our product demo to them and we discovered most users have the pain that we are solving and are willing to use our product. We feel super motivated and confident that our launch will be successful. I want to share with you that success is not easy - we literally cold reached out to 76 salespeople and only 10 responded yes after a week, the main idea is to be consistent, put yourself out there and understand that most likely you’re getting rejected. But, that’s okay because you just need to try, - volume is more important Just like MVP, if you keep iterating and refining, you never feel ready to launch. Even if you can; you will be depressed easily as you thought you have put in a lot of efforts and you didn’t get the results you wanted. From now on, pluck up your courage and start speaking to people. We pulled these calls off and had good sessions with them in such a small bedroom: If we can do it, you can too, peace.
