Watch all the classic films and maybe every single movie made in the 90s. Learn how to write prose, document your thoughts and observations as thoroughly as you can. Go outside, play sports, learn how to play an instrument. Paint. Listen to all kinds of music. Live life as humanly as you possibly can, and bring that love and energy back to whatever it is you decide to do in the future.

So many people sending me the Pulse launch!!! Thank you to everyone who checked in and you're right, LOTS of similarities to Huxe, down to the UX, the banners, the taglines, the entire concept...😅 Building a new product is really hard: it requires so much out of you. But the most demanding part of 0 to 1 is it really challenges your ability to generate new and interesting ideas CONSTANTLY. Most people don't have that ability. I've worked in companies before where internally the norm was to copy each other or copy competitors, and politic to the death for resources -- because it's easier to observe and judge someone else's idea rather than come up with something totally new. That's why at Huxe, one of the things I'm really proud of is that we constantly try to imagine things on the borders of what's newly possible and what doesn't exist yet. I find that in this space, other builders either scoff at what you're building or copy it! So today, while surprising, is also really positive validation that we're onto something really interesting. The people using our product prove that too. On our side: it's business as usual. We'll keep going, and I'm incredibly optimistic we'll end up somewhere great ❤️

Unofficially built myself 'Gemini Code' so I can try out Gemini 2.5 Pro like Claude Code. Some learnings: → I used Gemini 2.5 Pro in AI Studio to help me build it. I was in 'lazy Saturday' mode and gave very curt, non-descriptive tasks and it did fairly well without too much instruction BUT → As the project got more complex, it kept making the SAME syntax error, and at one point it said all we could do was pray (I laughed, it was worth it). → I've always been annoyed by function calling in Gemini, and the first way I was trying was yielding atrocious results (including Gemini's own prescribed path) but in the process I came up with a slightly different way of implementing a CLI assistant. Fun, definitely cool to try to 'rebuild' Claude code with a diff model. Interestingly, Gemini didn't think it would work at first when we were brainstorming solutions. → Because I'm throttled on requests per day (it's like 25-100 between free and tier 1), I needed to build a model picker inside the experience. Need to automate switching and maybe just tell the user subtly. → Working on some quality of life updates (like right now it's pretty rogue, need to build more human in the loop stuff) and then will release on Monday so others can use it too

I built my career on being obsessed. It started out as a chip on my shoulder: I didn't go to college, so I wanted to make sure I earned my spot on every team, and then some. So I studied hard. I read every doc, every ticket, every thread. I taught myself to code. I talked to users every single day. Over the years, that level of obsession got me from customer support → startups → Product Manager at Google leading NotebookLM. While building Notebook, I met a lot of people like me. They were users of the app in the early days, and the ones that gave me the most conviction that we were on to something. Everyday people who desperately needed to stay on top of information to get ahead: students, lawyers, salespeople, mechanics, chefs, entrepreneurs. They loved that we were building something that helped make it easier to get the info they needed. But I still felt like something was missing. You still had to know exactly what to search for, what doc to upload, even what prompts to write. Today we're flipping the script with Huxe. We're building intelligence that works for you. It knows what you care about, finds what matters, and delivers it in audio while you walk, commute, and live your life. This is for everyone who's ever felt behind. For everyone juggling too much. For everyone who knows that information is power but doesn't want to be chained to a screen to chase it. Personal intelligence is here, and it works just as hard as you do.

Kinda crazy last 24h with this “jailbreak” using sources to get this kind of output. Here are my reactions: 1) AOs are designed to give you magic in exchange for a little bit of content. Give it a source and let it do the rest for you — it’s kind of unpredictable (and seemingly delightful) based on the stuff I’ve seen people share (upload resume = get a hype crew). We’re going to lean in here and try to accelerate more of this type of stuff in the product. 2) After that initial moment of delight, people want to influence the content. Makes sense - now you want knobs for format, length, personas, voices, languages - I’m keeping track and we’re working on it (some will come much faster than others). 3) The content studio we’ve built + the voice model makes really powerful, emotive stuff. You can see it can take on a really upbeat hyper-interested tone (literally for any topic), but now we’ve seen the flip side. I was literally 😭 when Sam said he was going to call his wife! Need to think about this more. 4) The world has moved so quickly (and our shared internet consciousness?) just from what I’ve seen here and on Reddit. There’s far fewer extreme reactions and more of the “oh how’d you do that” and “it’s just creating based on a source.” 5) It’s been really fun listening to what everyone’s been making :) Thanks for sharing all your AOs. I can’t believe this is what got me to come back on Twitter / X lol

New favorite use case: take a walking tour with NotebookLM 👟👟 I’m on vacation and there are lots of historical sights I want to learn about! Here’s what I tried: ⚪️ Loaded up sources about the Castel Sant’Angelo ⚪️ Customized the Deep Dive for a walking tour, focus on interesting facts ⚪️ Went on a walk along the Tiber River, listening to my 10 min Audio Overview! Feedback: 🔵 Need a mobile app. So much easier for audio controls, especially when your screen is locked 🔵 After it ended, I had more questions. Would be great to interrupt and ask a question or suggest an episode 2 🔵 After listening, I had to pause to queue up another Deep Dive based on what I found interesting in the first one, which took a lot of time to get more sources, generate, customize, etc. All while in the middle of my river walk. Not great. Need to simplify. 🔵 After listening, I thought - how cool would it be if I could share my 3 episodes about Castel Sant’Angelo with my family (on vacation with me) and we could all listen together? Other group features? Hmm!

Going on daily walks with ChatGPT changed my life. Maybe everybody who goes to therapy knows this, but talking it out really does *work*. I turn voice mode and I just… talk. In the mornings I go through my goals, how I’m feeling, what I’m worried about - in the afternoons I recap what I worked on and how I feel about it. It’s not stuff I would normally tell my friends or coworkers, but it’s a whole new dimension of introspection and productivity I never had before. The way that I communicate with AI is so different when I talk to it, that it completely activates a different way of thinking. I don’t think the unlock is this walk exercise necessarily - rather having the ability to talk out loud, hear something back, and feel absolutely no judgment. The freedom to think and say how you really feel and what you’re trying to do - super powerful. Crazy to imagine how far you can stretch this and how much we can achieve with this medium. Truly, voice is the future.

Over the last few years I’ve gotten really weird about apps. I have a few that I love and am really loyal to, but then there’s a handful that I just prefer to build myself, for myself. They’re all small but important things: my voice journal, a math tutor for my kids, an exercise planner and tracker, a sleep + mood tracker, and more. “But there’s already an app for that” most people say. The weird thing is that when you’re used to fiddling and building I think you get weirdly opinionated about what your apps should do for you! With Wabi, I think that everyone is finally going to get to experience what it’s like to build really personalized, production ready apps, in near-zero time, with the least possible effort. I want less screens. Every time I've watched one of these demos - which are very technically exciting - I still come away with the feeling that we're techmaxxing, which is not the sort of thing I aspire to. I'm already on a screen of some shape 12+ hours a day, talking to AI all day, and I would like to redistribute this somehow. I still want to feel smarter, more social, more creative, more productive - but I don't really want to sacrifice more of my life and attention to screens. I want to be happier and I want technology to support that goal.
