I have a huge problem with people saying they are a one man agency. It is obvious is not true. At $5000 per month, you need 20 clients to reach $100000 MRR. Do the maths. It means that on average you work less than two full days per month for each clients. It is just not possible. You can’t say that design subscription are lower than a full time designer that cost $100 000 a year. A full time designer will work for you every business day (let’s say 20 days per month) for less than $10 000 a month. It means it will cost you $500 per work day. Design joy costs you between $2500 and $5000 per work day dedicated to your project. So it 5x to 10x cheaper to have a full time designer than a subscription if design joy is really one one man agency. It is not a matter of « productivity », it is just basic maths. You can’t work more than one or two day a month for each of you 20 clients whatever how productive you are. So Design joy is either not a singe man (he probably outsource ms many tasks) or it is a terrible deal for his clients (paying 5x more than what a full time designer would cost). Design and business should be based on trust on not on fake claims to see your client you will handle their requests when it is obvious that it is false. This is toxic for the industry in the long run and only possible if you outsource from low wage countries. I had to tell the truth.
