A few months ago, someone reached out asking me to be their technical cofounder. Today, I found out they’re backed by a16z. Still a no from my side, reasons I won’t get into. Things are challenging right now, but I trust the call I made.

When working on a feature for Stratalens that helps users analyze and screen financial markets using natural language, my first approach was using text-to-SQL, but I soon realized how poor existing LLMs are at SQL, though they were great at Python. Also, I didn't necessarily need the capabilities of SQL. A blog post on this coming soon.

I was fired from Cloudflare today, I perfected systems design to ensure consistency and reliability for our organization. But, I failed to understand the importance of choosing right subreddit flare which triggered a edge case causing today's outage.

$NVDA to invest $5 billion in $INTC - interesting move. A year ago, I bought some Intel stock since it was trading below book value, and given its position as the only fully integrated semiconductor company, I didn't think much could go wrong. It also has government contracts, which reinforced its strategic importance amid tensions over outsourcing semiconductor manufacturing. Glad the thesis worked out, but I had to sell for unrelated reasons :P

$FIG IPO priced at $33, opened at $85, closed at $115.50 (+250% day one) and market participants are FURIOUS at the bankers for 'underpricing' it. Meanwhile in India when this happens participants thank the generous founders for leaving money on the table. My take is that $FIG was appropriately priced. A post on this soon :)

My biggest win was an 8x return on a leveraged small-cap stock. But chasing 10x, 20x, or even 5x returns is just vanity. I've matured enough to realize it's about finding a thesis that works best for you. Now I focus on a more concentrated portfolio where even 2-3x gains are meaningful wins for me

Now that I'm no longer building a startup around investment analysis, but just want to build interesting things related to it, I'm much more excited because there are no constraints and I simply enjoy building. (The reason I'm not building a startup is a story for another day)
