One of my dad's biggest regrets was not listening to his dad when he told him "do everything you can to work with your head and not your body." He got qualified as an architect at the worst possible time in history; just as the industry was switching over to computers. So, his qualification wasn't worth shit and he ended up on a construction site. I spent the better part of a year working on one with him, it was the worst job I've had in my life; worse than cleaning, pot washing in a pub, customer support, sales assistant, everything I've ever done. Granted there were lots of things about this particular site that made it worse than others. I've done other hard labour jobs that weren't as bad. However, the idea that this is what men yearn for is just fucking retarded. If you're miserable looking at a spreadsheet, change career, if you're on a construction site and can't stand some POS supervisor breathing down your ear, change career... and do what you enjoy.
