One thing that's re-shaped my thinking about climate is that the predictions I received in college 20 yrs ago that by 2020s coastal cities and beach areas would all be underwater proved to be totally overstated--and *yet*, as cartography professor every year I still get students who want to make maps of all the catastrophic coastal flooding theyre still being told, all through high school, is just about to happen. The messaging is not updating itself to reflect the new data of what we now know actually happened during the 2000s-20s.
