A year ago today, I made my first post on X. I had no following, no connections and, to be honest, no real idea what I was hoping to achieve. I just had a fascination with generative AI's potential and a burning desire to explore it. Looking back on the last 12 months, I'm struck by the unexpected doors that have opened, the new friendships forged, and how my creative spirit has flourished, simply through immersing myself in AI on a daily basis and being present on X. Despite being hung-up about it early on, I've learned that follower count and impressions are not the only measure of success. I'm still a relatively small account but, in the last year, I've been invited onto a number of creative partnership programs with leading generative AI firms including @LeonardoAi_ , @runwayml, @freepik and @PixVerse_. I'm extremely grateful to these companies because their programs have allowed me to delve deeper into the tools they offer. I get to learn and experiment on a daily basis. Other milestones in the last year include being recognised as a pioneering AI filmmaker by @CuriousRefuge (who do the most amazing AI film courses, btw!) and being invited to join the amazing @lummipics as one of their official creators. While I can't say much about it at the moment, for business confidentiality reasons, the major highlight has been that I recently accepted a position with a US-based entertainment studio. They approached me because they had seen my short films here on X. It's a valuable reminder that - even if you feel you're not getting the same views as other accounts - you never know who's looking at your work and what opportunities that might lead to. So my advice, for what it's worth, to everyone building in this space, (especially those just starting): Your follower count doesn't define your worth or potential. Focus on developing your unique voice. Create what excites you, what moves you, what has value for you. Learn, experiment, grow. Success looks different for everyone. Find your own authentic path and - I believe - it will lead to good things. Finding and becoming part of the incredible generative AI community on X has changed my life in ways I couldn't have imagined a year ago. I am so grateful for all the support and encouragement so many of you have given me over the last year. There are too many people to name individually, but please know how much I genuinely appreciate all the supportive comments, and the warm friendship you've offered. Here's to another year of learning, creating, and supporting each other in this remarkable space.

Falling (Remake): A Short Film Since I made the original version of this short film 6 months ago, a lot has changed. Not least the release of @runwayml's Gen3 Image to Video. While still in Alpha, the improvements in Gen3 are unbelievably good. Movement is far more natural, and its ability to interpret emotions from prompts and apply those to facial expressions is quite magical. I've also learned a huge amount from the @CuriousRefuge AI Filmmaking Course, which I would highly recommend if you've not taken it yet. So, why did I revisit an old short, instead of create a new story? There's so much new tech coming out all the time that - to be honest - I can get a little overwhelmed trying to balance experimentation with new ideas, while also focusing on quality work. By revisiting an existing story, I had a template to work from. This allowed me to focus on how I could use the new technologies (and my own learnings of the last six months) to bring my original vision to life in a more cinematic way. It meant I could give all my attention to trying to get the best visuals and movement for each scene, rather than being distracted with the direction of a new story. Over the next few days, I'll post some learnings I've gained from this process. Gen3 is excellent at movement, but many aspects of this film feature stillness (or subtle movement) and that was initially quite challenging to achieve, so I'll explain how I altered my prompts to manage that. There are so many incredible people in the AI space on X and it really is a joy to be a part of this community on a daily basis. A Dream Within a Dream: An AI Short "All that we see, or seem, Is but a dream within a dream." For my latest short, I wanted to explore the world of dreams. I'm very interested in using old poems as the basis for modern pop songs. For this video, I took the first verse of A Dream Within a Dream by Edgar Allen Poe, published in 1850, and used @suno_ai_ to create a song in the Space Pop genre.
