this morning @bentossell hooked me up with @FactoryAI's droid cli, so naturally i had to build and ship a new project in a day woke up reminiscing about the site counters on sites and wanted to combine it with a real time counter so i built my own 👇🏻

some personal news last month i left the best role of my career so far to try something new building @lexdotpage was the first time a day job felt like a side project, crafting details into the evening felt like play, not a chore exploring what writing in an ai world could look like was a fascinating problem to wake up to each morning, and working with @nbashaw and team was a privilege going all in on lex didn't leave much headspace for personal projects, and with the state of ai the itch to explore on my own slowly crept up since leaving i've been mostly recharging, reading, talking to folks and following my interests, but here's a few highlights: i built and shipped herenow.fyi with @factoryAI's droid cli in a day, a simple site hit counter, since open sourced for others to use too i've spoken to a bunch of people, built landing pages and proof of concepts for both flowlane.ai and log.limo and have started to get a good idea where each could go wrote a blog post that hit #1 on hacker news, getting over 40k pageviews: fredrivett.com/2025/09/10/bec… i visited my wife's family in edinburgh, met the newest addition to the clan, and started running again, breaking both my 5k and 10k pb's and signing up for a half marathon next year revamped my cv, fixed some issues on my site, and told the recruiter world i'm open to (the right) contract role: fredrivett.com/cv/ the plan is to continue experimenting on my own whilst doing some contract work, so if you need design/frontend engineer for a project feel free to say hi 👉 fred@fredrivett.com

a couple years ago @lornarivett & I spoke about our dream of building our own place naïvely we browsed plots, found one w/ sea views, did due dil, positive pre-app, bought it, hired architect & submitted app council rejected so appealing still hoping the dream can come true
