Imagine you have been looking at the Earth from space, for millions and millions of years. It always looks the same. All of a sudden it lights up, in a matter of decades. The blink of an eye. Could you have predicted that? Of course not. Humans love to predict things. People imagined insane urban landscapes when cars started becoming popular (look at the Western US and its unwalkable cities), or a dystopic life in virtual reality when the internet was invented. Look up the word "teledildonics." Now we live in one of the most unpredictable periods ever. We have a weird new technology, and the predictions are all over the place. It's pointless to predict whether AI is going to replace job X or job Y, whether it will kill us all (it's increasingly looking like it won't), whether jobs will disappear, or whether it will cure cancer. We're just going to have to ride it and see what happens. When an expert predicts with arrogant certainty that "in 10 years AI will..." just stop reading. Rolling your eyes is optional.

Respectfully, remote workers deal with information. They are not carrying potato sacks, where more time = more sacks carried = more profit. Stop thinking about how much time they work, that mindset has been obsolete for decades.

I'm not trying to dunk or be mean, so let me explain carefully why I say this: You are starting a company in the most competitive landscape that has ever existed. You are against the most driven people imaginable. If you were on the Western Front during WWI, you would be trying to survive. Maybe you had a girlfriend or a wife back at home, but that's not important right now. Your #1 job is to make it back home in one piece. You can't go to your captain and say "sir, I need to take the afternoon to go to the nearest town and see if I can find a girlfriend." The best that you can hope for is a Christmas truce, where you'll get to play soccer with the other side. One day Paul McCartney will make a video about you, perhaps. But no girlfriend. When all is said and done, you can take a sabbatical and move to NY or Italy or wherever. But now you cannot be actively looking for an understanding girlfriend. You should have thought of that before enlisting. Carry on soldier, and may you not be sent to hold the Anzio Beachhead for the price of a few hundred ordinary lives. Maybe your understanding girlfriend will find you in the process. But it should not be hard, because you should be devoting exactly zero effort to that right now. Don't like it? Quit.

Yeah, but I'd much rather be in one of those cars than on BART. From A to B on BART takes significantly more effort and time, not to mention safety and cleanliness.

Well, write a bot that automates the swiping at least. Can't be that hard. I'm guessing you get ~50 matches out of 1k swipes based on the # of dates. You can handle the chatting yourself.
