It was my first year working investment banking at Lazard I asked for time off for two trips I planned in the spring My Director said to me “wow, you’ve taken more vacation in your first year than I have in 6 years here” I looked at him and said “did you know in 200 years we will all be dust & no one will know how much joy you starved yourself in the name of shareholder value?”

I started my career at Lazard & private equity at Marlin Equity, 2 of the most prestigious jobs you can have Issue is the experience working at a leading company is shit nowadays In the old days, you worked your ass off, but it was worth it Those careers used to offer you many things: prestige, status, money, and social rewards (perks, fun closing dinners, golf outings, etc.) All that is gone. No one cares about your job for prestige in the age of social media - status is all about social capital Money - can make that type of money elsewhere, often more efficiently And the jobs just aren’t fun anymore. “HRificication” of everything took out the work hard play hard. It’s work hard, get $25 dinner stipend. No closing dinners, golf trips, courtside seats. Sad! WFH killed mentorship & development. They don’t care about you. Revolving door of young talent. So, of course everyone is lost & unhappy Having a purpose is a leading driver of happiness. Few have it. What % of people: 1) did the self work to figure out their purpose 2) have the balls to go for it 3) have the skills to pull it off Few…

The greatest source of confidence is operating from the mindset of: This is me. What you see is what you get. I am who I am. Take it or leave it. People are so afraid to get "rejected" but you have to realize that's a good thing. In a job interview or a date, if they deem that you are not a "fit" that is GOOD. It is not a fit. You two are not compatible. Why would you want something you aren't compatible with?? I essentially let people make decisions for me. If you like me for me, great. If you don't, that is also great. You just made my life easier - I don't have to invest in that relationship. I am who I am. Take it or leave it.

My mentor is the CEO of a $4Bn company. I had just told him I was thinking about quitting private equity. The advice he gave me changed the trajectory of my life: He said, "everyone is in their late 20s / early 30s is faced with a decision: do you stay on the tried & true path OR do you take that leap to go do what you really want?" This was exactly the decision I was facing. Private Equity clearly wasn't the path for me, but I still didn't know what "leap" to take. He continued: "I had a lot of friends who all went and did their own things. Not only did they have a ton of success, but they had a blast doing it too. As for me, I never took that risk. I stayed at Bain for 20 years, working my way up to Partner. I never took the leap when I had the chance to and it is the biggest regret of my career." I asked why. "Because I didn't have the courage" he said. That line stopped me in my tracks. I realized: At the end of the day, you just have to go for it. It's either that, or you spend your whole life regretting "what if" & wishing you had just tried. Have the courage to fearlessly create the life you truly want to live... Cause it literally all comes down to courage.

When I was 25, I went thru a "quarter-life crisis" 1. Girlfriend of 6 years dumped me out of the blue 2. $225,000 private equity bonus didn't make me happy. I knew this wasn't the path for me, but was lost about where to go next 3. Grandma died I got rocked. I asked my dad what to do. He said: "I can't tell you what to do with your life - it's your life. As for the heartbreak...that's why a lot of great songs were written." (banger) So, what to do when the "path" you are on is no longer the path you want to be on? You’re going to blame someone else but the truth is no one has treated you worse than you’ve treated yourself Story time: I was on a run in Venice. I had a lot on my mind to process. 2 things had happened leading up to this: 1) my girlfriend of 6 years broke up with me unexpectedly in August. I was heartbroken. 2) I had just gotten a job offer from the Company I was about to move across the country for. The CEO called me & said “I want you to know, I’ve done TONS of reference checks. Yours were the most positive I’ve ever heard. You could tell how much everyone loved you.” I went to a run to process the decision - am I really going to move across the country? I ended up thinking about his last line. About how everyone loved me. Remember the heartbreak? It hadn’t been the most joyous time of my life processing that… So here I am. Out for a light jog (7min/mile pace, so I mean real light). And I start crying. Had no idea what has happening but tears started streaming out of my eyes. It was like that scene from the Grinch “WHAT IS THE DEAL?!” This stopped me in my tracks. I realized I WAS BULLYING MYSELF. I pictured my little 10 year old self and thought about how that little Legend is still inside of me but I was BULLYING HIM You bully yourself when you focus on the 1 PERSON that doesn’t love you, instead of focusing on all the others who do Because one person broke up with me, I felt unloved, lonely, unworthy, etc. When in reality, you are so LOVED BY EVERYONE. Your family, your friends, your bosses, colleagues, local bartenders/barista, anyone who’s life you touched I vowed to never again bully myself. You’re either your own biggest hypeman or your harshest critic It’s your choice.

Major cheatcode in life is remembering to WANT what you already HAVE Ya more money, whatever would be cool Nothing beats time spent with best friends. The best days are no plans just letting the Hugo Spritz (iykyk) lead the way terrorizing the town laughing your ass off You’re living the dream right now. This is as good as it gets.

Should never feel anxious/stressed/worried Those emotions just reveal that you don’t believe in yourself If you believed in yourself, you’d know you’ll get it done…as you always have… So there’s nothing to worry about - you just focus on how good things can go, which, funny enough, makes them go very well, which makes you…I don’t need to spell it out …

I met one of my very best friends through Twitter (!) and I know you all now have a much better understanding of my world and who I am. That's been a beautiful thing.

Have I told you the story of how I made $400K from only 90 seconds of work? So it was this past April. If you recall April, Trump just announced tariffs, so the markets crashed. Not like that is going to stop us from taking a trip to Cabo. I've had MANY great trips to Cabo and many great memories well...everywhere. But this was special - that Saturday, April 8th, is probably the best day of my life (so far). We took this epic yacht out. Cruised for a bit until we anchored right in front of Chileno Bay (my fav). The Margs were going down like water. I chugged Rose out of a snorkel (iconic). Music was blasting. WHALES were breaching right in front of us. It was almost too much. We get off the yacht and keep the party going at Chileno before hitting Bagatelle. Just how you draw it up. Fast forward to Monday. I've got a clear head (raging hangover) so I check back in with the markets. While we were down in Cabo, other investors spent the weekend arguing about politics with strangers on the internet. Sounds like fun ! They miraculously learned macroeconomics the same way I miraculously learn Spanish when I need to... I digress. This created a wonderful opportunity to buy the most important business in the world, $NVDA, at a 30% discount. "How bout that?!" I thought. I wish I could say I did all this technical analysis telling me it was the right time to buy, but really On my left ear, it was my good friend Don Julio telling me "f**k it, do it"...which...he's never led me astray with that one ...well...there was that one time...lol Don you b*stard ! And in my left ear, it was my 80 year old self telling me about how great my Casa de Jazzy house in Cabo is & all the great memories we will had there... I recall he said, "this house ain't gonna buy itself!" "Good point" I thought. So I pulled the trigger & bet big. I bought $414,000 of $NVDA stock at $109 per share. This took me maybe 90 seconds. I clicked about 6 buttons. $NVDA is now $207/share. My position is now $800,000. Good for $400,000 in profit in 6 months. And I am one step closer to my house in Cabo. How bout that !!

Just spoke to my 90 year old self He said he’s glad to see me prioritizing being young, spending time with loved ones, having fun making memories. That’s what it’s all about. He said there’s a lot of different chapters in life. All of them are amazing, but they’re all different. What matters is appreciating each one as much as you can while you’re in it and truly taking it for everything it’s worth. Of course you have to work hard to set yourself up well, but making money takes time and generally by the time you make it, your life is in a different chapter. Your utility value of money is highest when young because life changes. It isn’t as easy as it is to see friends and make memories/travel with them as you get older. Keep having as much fun as possible - he’s smiling thinking back on these days
