Last year, I had no followers. My life was a mess, my wife wouldn't even look at me, and even my dog was embarrassed. Now, I’m monetized on X, making a $100 a month - and everything else is pretty much still the same.

Is X Getting Worse for Small Creators? I've been noticing a lot of negativity in spaces over the past couple of days. Small creators feel unappreciated, and there's a growing perception that X is increasingly favoring larger accounts, making it harder to grow in the first place. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate what Elon is doing here, especially the 'why,' but I'm not a blind follower, and I don't like the way he's going about it. The Problem Starts at the Top From the beginning, it was evident that Elon is unable to view Twitter from the perspective of small accounts. He acts as if his unique experience here is not only normal but representative of the average person. Additionally, he fired everyone who would stand up to him, resulting in a group of yes-men surrounding him - the worst thing that can happen to someone accustomed to defying the odds. Now, they start to believe everything they touch will turn to gold, while the very opposite is unfolding. Forgetting About Small Creators Catering to individuals like Tucker Carlson and Mr. Beast, artificially boosting their success and acting as if it's a normal and attainable trajectory for everyone won't be enough to sustain X. Small and medium-sized creators constitute the lifeblood of every community and are the influencers of tomorrow. However, this can't happen if they struggle to grow or aren't adequately compensated. Other platforms offer better pay, and I've already noticed a few people leaving. Degrading Conditions on X Especially Mr. Beast's $250,000 seems like a slap in the face for small creators who need to hustle for every single like. Getting paid by X is pretty much impossible unless you are already huge or you are willing to game the algorithm, commenting like a bot, which is the kind of behavior X is fostering these days. All of this suggests to me that X is not heading in the right direction. Spaces, video, and live features are broken, and everything seems poorly stitched together in a user interface that wasn't designed for this. People are starting to lose trust, and for good reason, I dare say. Elon's attitude of breaking things fast might serve him well when it comes to rockets and cars, but not here. This is infrastructure. People are trying to build businesses here, and support their families, which doesn't seem possible on X right now. Despite not delivering a working product, they actively discourage users from using other platforms. Clicking on links to platforms like Substack results in artificial delays for example. This petty business strategy resembles something a vicious toddler in kindergarten might come up with. Not a good look.
