my friend asked if i have any tips for how to be a great party host (of course I do!!!) number one tip is INTRODUCE your guests to each other (!!!) there's four ways to do this well > mention how they both know you > share a life update: "X just moved here from NY" > share a fact: "X was on jury duty this past week" > share a common interest: "you both love jiu jitsu" connection thrives when you have a REASON to talk to somebody. a REASON to kick of the convo and start yapping. take a few extra minutes to do this and your party will be 100x more fun. otherwise you'll have a whole bunch of people having small talk awkwardly wishing they were anywhere else. give them something to immediately latch onto. it will set the tone for the rest of the night and they will absolutely love you for it. ok now go have fun!!!

hot take: making friends requires the same intentionality we give to (early) dating. we're in a loneliness crisis. we need to remember real friendship takes time and effort. in school, it was built-in: shared routines, daily run-ins, automatic consistency. in adulthood? you must create it for yourself. put yourself out there. show up, even when it's scary. smile at a stranger. ask to connect. ask genuine questions. be curious. put in effort. the results are worth it 🤍

I told my boyfriend yesterday at 930 pm that I was sad I didn’t end up exercising today. he said “let’s go on a run!!! 1 mile!! let’s do it!” so we did it’s the little things, but I’m grateful for a partner that pushes me to actualize my goals

I say this very genuinely but once you experience a deep level of ease with how a romantic partner fits into your life: - watching them engage with your whole family on a trip, from long convos with my parents to playing with my nieces/nephews - how you support each other in stressful times - maturely handling and resolving arguments once you feel that - it really makes ya look back on every time where you've been with other people but realize they never quite "fit" right like the ability to seamless integrate into the most important experiences in your life Doesn't mean everything is perfect all the time or that arguments don’t happen or you’re always perfectly satisfied at all moments - but there’s smth about watching a partner seamlessly fit into moments where you're like "ah, this is what it's supposed to feel like"

I've felt my sense of self-confidence grow so fully & deeply lately, and it's because I keep honoring the promises I've made to myself. Even when I'm scared or nervous or anxious, I show up and I do it anyway. Over and over and over.

being in a relationship is both very easy and very hard. easy as in they’re your best friend. they feel like home. they’re your comfort person. they make you breath a little easier. hard as in it will uncover a lot of your blind spots. it will force you to be better. it will take patient communication to tend to your differences. to always stay curious and keep defensiveness low. to open yourself up to love fully.

my favorite ways to talk to a stranger: - offer to take a photo for them in pretty places - ask what food they ordered - comment on how beautiful the weather is - give them a casual compliment - ask what they're reading - ask for directions - casual smile when you walk by either it leads to a longer convo or it's just a positive human interaction of the day - both are perfect!

I so deeply feel that children make your life so full. so much talk online about the downsides or the inconvenience. Not enough about their sweet cuddles. the way they remind you how to have childlike curiosity. to have joy for the little things. their ability to love unabashedly. convinced most people in their 20s don’t spend enough (or any) time with children to experience this joy. to get to watch a child grow up from the moment they are born... so special. rewarding. human. (sincerely, a girl who just spent all weekend with her sweetest nieces & nephew)

my friend asked if i have any tips for talking to strangers out in public (of course I do!!!) tips: - do it in places where people generally linger. this can be in line, at coffee shops, after a yoga class, etc. there needs to be an element of slowness so you can easily strike up a convo - wouldn't recommend starting with 'hi' - that can be offputting and there isn't much to do that with that. you'll want an easier intro line - my favorites intro lines are almost as though you're letting them into your inner monologue like: - "I can't decide between X or Y (on the menu)" - "have any favorites that you order here? I want to try something new" - *comment on a product they're holding or wearing* - "wow that yoga class was so great today - I have to come again" - after you say this, you can usually sense their appetite for connection. if they feel warm and friendly, you can keep it going - "have you been here before?" - typically the conversation starts flowing from here!! - sometimes people aren't in the mood to chat and that's no biggie - you still got a nice quick interaction of the day. sometimes the conversations will go on longer and it can lead to a really wonderful interaction! - i'd encourage you to stay a *little* extra longer than you typically would. fight through the initial discomfort so that you can increase your appetite for this type of convo - repeat this whole process a few times to increase comfort with this! you'll start to realize that people are EXCITED to talk to you! strangers aren't as scary as they seem! and you'll start living a life thats more open and fun!

Turning 26 today!!! Usually I try to hide my age out of fear of being perceived as 'too young.' Especially as a woman, I often fear anything that may undermine my knowledge. But somehow stepping into 26 feels really empowering. Exactly where I need to be :')
