This week we had to make a tough decision. We’ll officially be removing our KNO free plan on Friday. Since the beginning, we’ve prided ourselves on being able to help everyone, regardless of size or revenue. But there are some harsh realities with business. This free plan costs us (on a very conservative estimate) $75k/year to operate. It made financial sense to keep it running and cover the cost for a long time. It was a great entry point for brands to get startedĀ with no usage limits. Because we had a ā€œPowered by KNOā€ banner on each survey, it generatedĀ greatĀ brand awareness. Then, last week, Shopify gaveĀ us until Jan 10th toĀ kill all branding across our surveys. Overnight, we lostĀ 2,000,000+Ā ā€œPowered by KNOā€ screen loads/month. We wrote a heartfelt post to Shopify (linked below) and have yet to hear back. Unfortunately, this fundamentally changes our business model. Given these changes, we had to make the tough decision to sunset our Free plan. We will do it in the most fair way we could think of.Ā We’re giving all our Free users 30 days to choose from the following: 1) You can keep using KNO for free through our TikTok Whitelabel plan.Ā It’s a 1 click migration, and you get a $250 TikTok credit if you switch over before 12/31. 2) Our free plan will roll over to our new Starter plan, which will be $19/mo. This plan isĀ STILLĀ cheaper than any other entry point for surveying in the market. 3) If you choose not to switch to either of the first 2 options, we will keep your survey running and continue to collect data. However, if you want to access that data after 30 days, you’ll need to switch to our Starter plan. Again, this is a tough decision to make as a business, but we felt that it’s our only option to keep growing and delivering the best survey experience hands down. I've never met @awilkinson but I operate one of his companies His approach is unique. Hire good talent and get out of their way. It never feels like we have investors breathing down our neck. Its a unique environment that leads to sustainable growth. And the results speak for themselves Since we sold to Tiny we've almost 4x'd KNO's revenue.
