I’ve built more than 30 startups, and here what I learned Scrappy It was such a long time ago, we started those in 2004, and back then, I didn't even know how to code. But I had an idea, and I went to meet a potential VC who really believed in me and gave me some money, a little, to run the idea. Actually, we found a small company that helped us to do those projects, but in the end, the project looked and did not look how we expected at all, so we stopped doing this before we even got some users. So the second project was StormRate This was after 2 years of Scrappy. The idea of the project was to make a betting site where young players could deposit their skins and make some betting. Such as most of those skins were dropped from bundles. It didn’t cost a lot of money, but ideally, it was to work with some users who got skins from Dota, CS Go, and League of Legends. We again found a VC back then, also a small one. He gave us some money, but it wasn’t even enough to build the project, so we put our money there as well and found some really good engineers to build those. I think the hardest thing was that we needed to create an automated bot that would accept the trades on our system. So, for those who are familiar with Steam, you need to send those skins and to accept those, we need to create automated bots to do so. It was an experience in which I was really unique. What is great about it is that it was a marketing strategy. Our platform was mostly about games. We didn’t advertise on Facebook or Google, which wasn’t even so popular back then. We found a really new platform called Twitch. Back then, it was new, and we paid a little to streamers who promoted our product. It was really great because a lot of those streamers weren’t getting a lot of money back then, and they gave us a really great audience. Sometime after it, we even went viral, and some guys started making videos about us and our platform, some sort of a review that went viral. We stopped working on that product because we didn’t have the money to run them anymore, and our revenue wasn’t so big to close all our needs. —> After this, I got lucky to become a co-founder of an outsourcing company, my co-founder and I started it in 2008, probably, and we started with only two people, my co-founder and I. We grew the company up to 50 employees over the past 7 years. We mostly worked with small teams and mobile apps and I learn a lot from those. I would say if you want to learn a lot of technology fast this is great way to do this, cuz you need to do a lot of things by your own and moreover to learn a lot of new staff. A few things that I can point out’s that there are a lot of things is going wrong when you are trying to build your own agency. Almost every day, I woke up, and there was some problem with some of our projects, and also, because we did small projects and a few of them always was developing in a parallel way, there was always a high possibility of some problems. From there I also learn 2 big things about projects. 1. Your planning phase is even more important than the development phase. Cuz when you think about it, if your plan doesn’t fit the design or stack of technology that you want to use, or you want to rush your project. There will always be a problem that a lot of your building blocks depend on each other, and if you do not spend some time investigating, one of them could break down. Same as you making a building I would say. 2. Second, I think the design is also, so if you do not think great about design, you could have problems later on. Especially not every designer really understands how to code those and what UX should look like if you do not review a design thoroughly, you could later spend a lot of time and money changing those. Abots The idea behind this was to create a tool to help small businesses make their own Telegram bots without coding. We did a lot of staff there, so user could generate 3 types of bots for different types of business, and launch those bot. Some users who would use those bots could even pay in Telegram, a really great idea, but we actually had some problems in our company, so we never tried to launch this very well, actually.
