September 11th I will remember this day forever This is the day when everything changed... --- For the last 7 months I was living in the dormitory No privacy whatsoever Roommate screaming in dota Drunk assh*les partying all the time A couple keeps breaking up every single night Roommate changing his clothes while I'm on a sales call.. It was a hell of a life I was exhausted to death I couldn't sleep I couldn't stay alone I couldn't hop on calls I couldn't live in peace At all... (if anyone tells you dormitory is fun - fuck them) --- I had a mission Make enough money to move out I am hoping €2,000-3,000/mo for at least 5-6 months straight should do the trick But it feels so unreal I am making €150/mo, how will I get to that level? No idea... I know I will get there I just have to figure this out Maybe in a year or so I will move out [It was April, 2023] --- I know I need to start working in order to get there So I decide to focus on these 3 things: 1) Build a brand on Twitter 2) Get as good in video editing as possible 3) Get as much work as I can Everyday I'd wake up, sit down at my desk and turn on my Asus Zenbook 13 • Editing videos • Writing content • Learning new stuff I knew what I wanted, but I still wasn't getting much results Yes, Twitter (X) is growing decently Yes, my skills were getting better each time And I even had a client I was working with But it wasn't even close what I wanted €150/mo.. Are you kidding me? --- The end of May I am losing hope • I'd worked for free • I kept writing threads • My laptop is fucking around I know I can't give up This would mean I will give up on my dreams So I go on Upwork, just to see if I can get any work there I remember applying to 5-6 jobs proposals I was really interested in 2 of the most exciting ones replied... I ended up working with one of them, because I simply had no time to handle the second one anymore It all happened really fast. 2 people reached out to me on Twitter We ended up working with them too I am editing a trial for the guy from UpWork as well as for those 2 people from Twitter It's a bit stressful "Will I get this done in time?", I think But it's also really exciting "If it goes this way I might even make enough money to get a new €2,000 laptop", goes through my mind That trial ended up getting me that client In his loom review he literally told me: "Dude you're the best, you gotta work with me" The best feeling ever I am super proud of my edit "It's probably one of my best so far" "Let's post it on Twitter", I think So I do... It ends up blowing up My DMs are filled with inbound leads People book calls with me I am overwhelmed "I don't have time for all of this" "For real, what the hell, why everything happens so fast?" "How many clients should I say yes to? I don't want to promise something I can't deliver" But it doesn't matter I am getting a shit ton of work This means a shit ton(for me) of money --- In June I ended up making around €2,500 It was more money than I used to dream of I have just enough to get a brand new MacBook M2 pro 16 inch I was dreaming about I am waiting for the final payment from one of the clients Wake up really early and go and buy myself a MacBook I have €4 left on my bank account, but it doesn't matter I know I will make much more money with this MacBook so this investment was worth every single penny And it was just about time when my biggest client so far reached out to me We ended up working together, which sky-rocketed my revenue Why did they reach out to me? Because I was building my brand on X They have seen my expertise and they knew I know my stuff Important note here It was not enough to just talk about it I had to make a trial to prove that I actually have skills And I did, they ended up really happy with it, so my skills is what made us work together in the end --- September 2023 I am entirely sick of the dormitory I want to move out so badly So I decide to make an impulsive decision I will rent my own apartment I know I wouldn't have much money left I know it's risky as fuck If any of my clients leave - my revenue goes down big time I was really scared of that But I couldn't stand the dormitory anymore It was disgusting to live there So a few days later, I find an apartment and move in I still can't believe I did that, but I am sure as hell happy I did --- My main lessons that helped me do it: 1) Post your work online First and the most important Most of the money I made came from X People saw I knew my stuff so they wanted to work with me 2) Keep improving your skills I tried to get better with every video Learned new editing techniques, Tried some new effects And just kept learning It's what helped me charge more 3) Trust the process This shit is hard I know it My first 6 months were really boring Almost no results and only €500 made But it finally took off after 6 months of work So don't give up after a few months of not seeing results It will come if you stay in the game for long enough This is it for today Peace
