Hard agree on this I think (for me personally) berachain lost a lot of it’s real community appeal when it raised $100m at a billion dollar valuation (even tho it’s good for my bera jpeg bags) For the exact reason mentioned here of, it smells more like a VC darling chain that will end up launching at a stupid valuation and totally void all the real community of the much needed wealth effect. The reason I loved berachain was because it was different to all these other boring stiff VC L1 chains, but seems it’s cursed by its own success. So my genuine question to @SmokeyTheBera is does Berachain actually NEED $100m (plus the $42m already raised) to build the tech and chain? Can the chain not be built with the already raised $42m? (Asked by someone who really doesn’t know the true capital cost of building such a chain)
