“value investing” has really lost its meaning over the years due to the hijacking of the term to Pabrai type backward looking investors and style box attach by consultants to low p/e (on trailing basis) At its core, nomenclature aside, all good investing is “value investing” if one is buying a company below the value they think it is worth. A high growth company obviously can be highly undervalued. And buying a low p/e stock based on historic earnings, without good understanding what go forwards business and earnings prospects may look like (with adj for expectations) is not value investing, it is just bad investing. Buffett himself, 33 yrs ago, remarked that value and growth are joined at the hip, and the distinction being redundant. Some seem to have not gotten the memo. (can have a separate convo on managing factor exposure, where there is bucketing for growth rate profitability and other factors but not intention of this post)
