I've recently gained many new followers and surpassed the 3,000 followers milestone, so I want to re-introduce myself to all my new followers so you can understand why I do the things I do (plus a bonus for you at the end). I was born in Romania and my family never had a lot of money, even by Romanian standards. My mom divorced my father when I was still only 3 years old. My grandparents who had a big role in raising me always thought I would be destined for great things, so they always encouraged me to study hard in school. I did exactly that, being top of my class for the first 8 years of school, until I got into high-school (with top 2 grades). And then my "rebellious" years started as a teen and I stopped studying as hard. But in high-school I also fell in love with marketing and became obsessed with it. Human psychology fascinated me. After high-school, I got into a private British-Romanian University (not very common in Romania) with a Business Administration major. I was also able to enter in the top 10 in that university through a peculiar admission test they had (it was an IQ test of some kind). My grandpa cried when I told him I got into university - the first of my family. His early efforts to help me succeed (the way he saw it) finally paid off. In the first year of university, I went hard on studying marketing, eating up dozens of marketing and business books in one summer. I was going to the nearby book store in a mall to read them for free, as I had no money as a student. Once I even stayed for 11 hours straight from the opening of the store to closing to read a book there. Because of my intense studying of marketing I was able to first obtain a part-time Marketing Assistant role at a software company, and later a Copywriter role at my first marketing agency. Things were going pretty well for me. Then I found out some news that my mother was witholding from me for the previous few months. My grandpa had cancer, terminal phase, and likely wouldn't have much longer to live. When I visited him, I was shocked at how bad he looked and couldn't contain my tears. His passing some months later took a toll on me as I've always had a hard time imagining my grandparents would pass away one day. And that day came way too quickly. I couldn't focus on university and exams anymore and entered a several year-long depression. But my passion for marketing and business continued, and deep down I've always had one major goal through out all of this - to make my grandpa proud. Over the years I've kept honing my skills, working for different companies and agencies, helping dozens of brands from startups to billion dollar companies like Pediatrix to grow their revenues and profits. The success I've had in my marketing career has allowed me to travel the world from Europe to Mexico and to Asia. This has also been a long-time goal of my, as I've always wanted to experience other cultures and learn from them. Most recently, I've started my own growth marketing agency with my Mexican wife (that's another story for another day). Our first client was able to launch his new subscription business with us and grew from $0 to $50M ARR within only 17 months. He's now launching his second business with us, that I believe we can help grow to $10B+ over the next 5-10 years. I've always liked helping people succeed in their goals, and I've always had high ambitions of my own. Both are character traits that have been instilled in me by my grandparents. I think, deep down, I still try to make my grandpa proud. I hope he's proud. So that's part of my story and why I work so hard to help others succeed and in part achieve my own goals, too.
