I am excited to announce that I just got accepted to Tsinghua University! Is what my parents wanted to hear three years ago. Since young, I carried the hopes of my parents – one day getting into Tsing Hua university. “It will take you to another level – you will be surrounded by the country’s top talent!” “You will be integrated into the most educated circles!” When I was rejected, I felt like I let my family down. I remembered feeling so useless –  they immigrated to the other side of the world for me, and I couldn’t even get accepted to a university. Today, my parents resurfaced the video we made for the application. Watching the video made me realize: 1. There are more than one way to achieve your dream, rejection is not the end. 2. You may be better aligned with another opportunity that you may not be aware of yet. 3. Passion is the best guidance. You cannot beat someone who is having fun. Rejection doesn’t mean failure – sometimes it’s just redirection. I didn’t get into Tsinghua University. But I got to build community, chase curiosity, and find purpose halfway across the world. Life has a funny way of leading you exactly where you’re meant to be. And right now, there’s nowhere else I’d rather be. He introduced me, and countless others before me, to the magic of San Francisco – the land of dreams. Not fitting in at school, he came to SF alone. While most students were in college chasing their dream jobs, he followed his heart – paving a path that opened new doors for the misfits who dared to write their own stories. In the span of two gap years, he helped build the infrastructure of the series of hacker houses that we now recognize as @_TheResidency that is transforming the lives of tens of thousands of young ambitious students globally by integrating them into their startup ecosystems. The Residency is so much more than just buildings where exceptional young founders co-live and co-work, it symbolizes opportunity, community, and hope for the people who choose the unconventional path. It is a place where people gather to create something much greater than themselves. While he has left the team at the Residency, his story continues in the hearts of the individuals whose lives were forever changed by the chapters he helped start. After a summer of documenting the lives of the most exceptional young builders, he is now working with his dream team at @localhosthq, igniting the startup scene around the world, starting with his home country India. I was bullied in elementary school. New immigrant, barely able to speak English. Picked on by classmates with nobody to turn to. That was the most alone I’ve ever felt. For years, I thought strength meant being the best. So I pushed myself – trained badminton semi-professionally, obsessed over self-reliance, tried to “win” at life by being unbreakable. We are hiring! At @pallyai , the team LIVES together in a hacker house. It is rare to find a startup where the founders are open to living with their team, and it made me realize how lucky we are, especially for students early in their career. I joined Pally in June, 3 days before getting into YC. The team wasn’t living together back then. I would transit 40 min to Founders Inc, our “office” at the time. Although we would spend 12+ hours together every day, occasionally even pulling all-nighters, it kind of still felt like “work”. When we moved into the Pally house in July, that's when the team truly bonded. The intimacy from being beside one another brought deeper conversations that built trust and connection. Work hours no longer felt long, and the team felt like family. In the midst of all the momentum at @pallyai , I stepped away from SF for two weeks. 9 flights. 60+ hours in the air. To see my family. And to visit a special someone. I’ve been a terrible daughter. Since leaving for college, I haven’t spent a full month at home. I’ve missed chores, meals, and memories with my two baby brothers. Yet my family never stopped supporting me. Their love keeps me grounded and reminds me to put my head where my heart is. Then came 20 hours to New Delhi. To see my partner, and co-host a short-story hackathon in Bangalore. There aren’t many who dedicate themselves to society. Who build others up, change lives, and raise the ambition of everyone around them. He is one of those people that carries the kind of energy that fuels the countless hours that we pour into what we do. This trip reminded me of one truth: It’s the people who move us forward. Family. Friends. Partners. No matter how far they are, keep them close.

We came to SF because we’re bullish. Because we’re action-takers. Because we’re delusional enough to think we can change the world. But here’s the truth: No one changes the world alone. Behind every “impossible” feat is a team, and behind every milestone is a community. Yesterday, @pallyai hosted a walk with 200+ dreamers, founders, and builders from across industries, united by curiosity about what’s possible in this Valley.
