France’s extraordinary election results provide an urgent, valuable lesson. Don’t concede ground to those who sow division and fear. Build a bold Left movement that offers an alternative of inclusion and hope. That is how you defeat the far right.

Our message to the government: we are a movement for Palestine, and we are never, ever going away.

Palestinian children should wake up feeling excited to go to school and play with their friends. Instead, for those murdered in Rafah, their last moments on this earth were filled with unimaginable fear as bombs rained down on their tents. What a monstrous failure of humanity.

The assault on Rafah is another utterly despicable war crime. As bombs rain down on a trapped and terrified population, we implore our government to find an ounce of humanity and end its complicity in this senseless massacre. Wake up. This is not war. This is genocide.

Far-right violence hasn’t come out of nowhere. It is the result of anti-migrant rhetoric from mainstream politicians who scapegoat refugees. We are an anti-racist movement that believes in a more inclusive world. We defeated the far right before. We will defeat them again.

Israel knows it can commit war crimes with impunity. That is why it has launched its largest assault on the West Bank since 2002. We are witnessing the total erasure of Palestine - and our government is shamefully complicit. End all arms sales to Israel, now.

It is an honour to be re-elected as the MP for Islington North. Our victory is a glimpse of a different future, which puts the interests of the many over those of the few. And it is a warning to the new government: that hope for a better world can never be extinguished.

If Parliament had listened to Diane Abbott: We wouldn't have invaded Iraq. Black Britons wouldn't have been deported in the Windrush Scandal. Our country wouldn't have been decimated by austerity. Diane's voice should not be ignored —her ongoing mistreatment is a disgrace.

How many Palestinian lives will it take for the UK government to finally end arms sales to Israel?

For years, BDS campaigners have been demonised for opposing the occupation of Palestine. Today, they have been vindicated by an ICJ judgment, which called on states to stop aiding Israel’s unlawful presence in Palestinian territories. End the occupation. Free Palestine.

The far right is rising across Europe because politicians on both sides have pandered to their rhetoric and normalised their ideas. The only answer to hatred is hope. We have to stand up to racism, defend refugees and inspire people to believe that a kinder world is possible.

I am disgusted by reports that the Home Office will begin rounding up and detaining asylum seekers, in preparation for deportation to Rwanda. This is a terrifying, repulsive election stunt from a government devoid of humanity. We will resist, together.

Today, Palestine is on the ballot. If you re-elect me as an Independent MP in Islington North, I promise to always stand up for the people of Gaza, and for the only path to a just and lasting peace: an end to the occupation of Palestine.

Earlier this month, the far right set fire to hotels housing asylum seekers. Today, the government announced a "major surge" in deportations and promised to re-open detention centres. The government could have stood up to the far right. Instead, it pandered to them.

Our community has been enriched by migration. Let's make the case for friendship, not fear.

Together with my independent colleagues, I have written to the Home Secretary requesting an urgent meeting in light of the far-right riots. We must call out this violence for what it is: rampant Islamophobia.

When politicians demonise migrants, the far right listen. When they say refugees should be “sent back to where they came from”, the far right listen. When they complain about asylum seekers staying in hotels, the far right listen. Let’s promote a message of unity instead. One that tackles the issues facing us all: the housing crisis, the collapse of our NHS and the disaster of privatisation. One that gives hope to all communities that a fairer society is possible. Stand up to racism. Defend refugees. Inspire belief in a better world. That is how you defeat the far right once and for all.
