Happy Memorial of St. Francis of Assisi! Widespread confusion, scandals among the clergy, and decline in attendance threatened the Church of Francis’ day. The son of a rich cloth merchant, Francis converted to a life of prayer in his early twenties. In a dream, God told him, “Go and repair my church, which, as you can see, is in ruins.” Francis began rebuilding the crumbling structure of San Damiano. But, his great work of renewal was the new form of life he embraced in 1208. His radical poverty and passionate preaching drew five thousand men to the Friars Minor in the next twelve years. Francis died in 1226 in Assisi and was canonized just two year later. (Source:Magnificat) He is the patron saint of animals, the environment, Italy, and ecology and is known for his deep love and respect for all of God's creation. Saint Francis of Assisi, pray for us.

Happy Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary! 🕊️ Born from the 1571 Battle of Lepanto—Christians crushed the Ottoman fleet, crediting victory to Mary's intercession via rosary prayers. Pope Pius V launched the feast as "Our Lady of Victory," later renamed by Pope Gregory XIII to Our Lady of the Rosary shifting the focus from the battle to the devotion itself. This feast highlights the rosary as a spiritual weapon against evil, later echoed in Pope Leo XIII’s encyclical Supremi Apostotatus Officio in 1883. In 1960, Pope John XXIII elevated it to an obligatory memorial. To pray the rosary is to hand over our burdens to the merciful hearts of Christ and his Mother. Through the rosary the faithful receive abundant grace, as though from the very hands of the Mother of the Redeemer. JPII Ave Maria!
