The @VP's political shock-and-awe campaign over the past few hours since the president's announcement has been impressive. A lot of big dominos have fallen, including almost all of the major, potential contenders who might have challenged her.
Hard to see any other outcome here than her nomination.
Reality check: @JoeBiden is the nominee of the Democratic Party, nominated by voters in primaries across the country. Unless the @POTUS, himself, decides to quit--which he won't--that issue is settled.
The discussion that is going on now was timely a year ago, when few wanted to have it.
It's largely irrelevant today.
You have to love the outrage the Rs are expressing that @JoeBiden, who they've pummeled relentlessly for years, has pulled the chair our from under them...and that they call his decision to step aside a "coup."
Just to refresh, coups are when leaders try, through force and chicanery, to overturn the outcome of free and fair elections.
Tony Blinken was not widely known before his appointment as @SecState, despite decades of public service.
Now the world can see what those of us who have worked with him saw every day:
He is a talented, thoughtful, decent, selfless, honorable person.
We are lucky to have him.
