What an awkward bug! There's no player input, no forces. I just made a liquid simulation algorithm, and it's trying to work. Yet the behavior somehow is so sophisticated, a combination of chaos and order. Like it's trying to self-organize into something, but fails.

Besides trying different gameplays with my physics engine, I did some random funny looking simulations just out of curiosity.

I implemented physically realistic jet engine. The flame is fluid with lifetime. It interacts with objects, affects them - much better, than the fake VFX one I used previously.

I've integrated fluids into my physics engine. Fluids are made of the same particles as solid matter, but computed differently. Phase change is seamless, matter melts and hardens back on temperature change. It runs fast, and world size limits are wider than any game would need.

2D printing matter will play a role in gameplay. Also ropes. 100% of the physics here is written by me from scratch. Pure math turned into a sandbox.

More about this peculiar bug in my fluid sim. Without gravity it's busy building something in lava lamp mode. Again, there's no forces here. Its shapeshifting behavior is a result of self-intreraction.

Have you heard that falling to water from high altitude is damaging? It's not intuitive, water is soft and malleable. Let's simulate it! A box made of hard matter falls into a pond from higher altitude each time. Will the box withstand the impact?

For my 3d simulation I needed to implement new rendering. To replace "sphere par particle" with marching cubes. I never implemented that kind of stuff, so I decided to first try a simplified 2d version, the marching squares. It worked, very fast rendering now.

For this simulation I used the algorithm I invented, to generate a mesh around a set of physics particles. The particles are used as bones. Skinned mesh math runs on GPU, updates the mesh, then it's rendered, without any data sent GPU->CPU. Marching cubes would be easier though.

"I need to simulate this random idea immediately" - this is what delays development of my physics engine. Spikes of curiosity. What would you try simulating if you had access to this physics engine?

Size limit solved. World can be enormous. Particles interact with solid matter. Next step is to convert physical matter to solid matter, and vice versa. It will allow digging, destroying and building.
