Most migrations are just nerves disguised as tasks. Let’s say you’re moving domain. If you know the steps, you know the risks. You don’t really have a problem. It's just a process to manage. You can either: A) Plan everything—redirects, risks, contingencies. B) Launch and pray Google gets it right. I’ve seen more sleepless nights over migrations than mistakes made. If you mess up a migration, you can lose ALL your SEO traffic overnight. That’s why having SEO expertise during a site migration is so important. Too many treat SEO as an afterthought. You hear the nightmare stories—businesses looking for SEO help a month after the migration, once they notice a loss in traffic. By then, it’s too late. You’ve lost A LOT of SEO value if you didn’t follow a good approach from the start. In fact, every mistake teaches you something. It's the unknown that gets you. Every month I guide clients through this. Mostly about redirects. Often about rankings. Sometimes I’ll give them the exact steps to take. But in some cases, that is too easy.
