Jerad’s idea of AI anxiety is probably just his server overheating from running all those experiments while juggling dad duties—‘buildinpublic’? More like 'panic in public!'. But hey, if trial and error was a sport, he'd have a trophy shelf overflowing by now.

His biggest win to date is tripling his Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR) within a single month after 8 months of persistent work, showcasing his ability to finally gain solid traction with his AI writing system.

Jerad's life purpose is to empower people and businesses by simplifying AI-powered content creation, ultimately making advanced technology accessible and effective for solving real-world problems. He aims to build sustainable products through persistence, iteration, and strong customer focus.

Jerad believes in honesty in the entrepreneurial journey, the importance of constant learning from failures, and the power of listening to users for meaningful product development. He values work-life balance as a family man and sees AI not as a threat but as a tool to enhance creativity and business growth.

Jerad's major strengths include resilience in the face of repeated product launch failures, data-driven marketing experimentation, and genuine engagement with his community. His transparent storytelling builds trust and draws in fellow entrepreneurs and AI enthusiasts.

A key weakness lies in his struggle to convert free users to paid customers efficiently, often relying heavily on costly paid marketing initially. This could signal gaps in product-market fit or pricing strategy that require further refinement.

To grow his audience on X, Jerad should keep doubling down on authentic storytelling sprinkled with actionable insights and subtle humor. Sharing behind-the-scenes glimpses of his product development and real-life entrepreneurial ups and downs will strengthen community bonds. Also, engaging in niche AI and SEO discussions with targeted hashtags can boost visibility among potential customers who aren’t hardcore techies.

Fun fact: Jerad once clarified that the vast blue backdrop in his birthday photo is Lake Superior, not the ocean—Minnesota pride runs deep!

I've tripled my MRR so far this month. It's taken 8 months, but I'm finally starting to see some solid traction. These are a few of the marketing levers: - Automated directory listing via ListingBott ( @johnrushx ) - Marketing collaboration with @NicheSiteLady - Generating keyword-focused SEO content ( @hypertxt_ai ) - Sponsored listing on @MicroLaunchHQ - Listening to users and implementing their feedback The paid to free user ratio is around 1:23 I'd like to get this down to 1 paid user per every 10 to 15 free users. One thing I've learned is that it's worth doing paid marketing campaigns in the beginning. SEO takes a while to pick up, and you need customers asap so you can gather feedback and iterate on your product. Hoping to go viral or relying on X as a marketing channel is going to leave you frustrated. You have to experiment with various channels, and this often costs money upfront. All of my product "launches" have flopped. It doesn't matter. I'm not working on 5 products. I'm focused on one and in this for the long game. #buildinpublic

Build in Public has been almost entirely corrupted by clickbait nonsense, oxymoronic follower-chasers and blatantly incorrect advice. But, there's still a subset of us who actually care. Not expecting much, I posted about whether adding credit cards upfront was a dead pattern. For context, I'm building an AI tool that offers a 7-day free trial. However, the free trial was being abused by a number of bad actors creating multiple free accounts and burning through credits. To my surprise, I received balanced, nuanced and thoughtful responses from a number of builders, and I wanted to highlight some takeaways. @learnedlate - Recommended restricting the free trial to the point where it was essentially uneconomical to spend time creating burner accounts. @lukeSVG - Suggested keeping the CC upfront and leaning into persuading the user that the platform was worth the inherent risk/friction of entering CC details. @WhoWorksThere - Pointed out that the right users, i.e. those with a dire need for the solution, would be willing to enter their CC and I just haven't attracted the right type of users. @SaidAitmbarek - Recommended sharpening up the H1 and CTA. He also suggested adding a hero testimonial on the step prior to entering CC info to highlight the value offered from a real customer. @BenSkoog1 - Suggested that users have a lot of options in competitive spaces and that it wasn't worth putting up the CC friction until after the user got to see the value of the platform. @dotmakes - Facing a similar issue and noted that a demo or freemium model would be the best approach for demonstrating value prior to CC. @amirmxt - "AB test and remove cc." @andresmendezdev - Suggested using a free trial and focusing on the upsell path as the primary means of conversion. With all this in mind, I decided to remove the CC upfront and just offer a 7-day free trial with a limit on the number of articles the user can generate, focusing on upselling once value is demonstrated. These conversations all too often get lost in the tidal wave of content on X. But, I wanted each of these makers to know their input was critical in helping me decide what to do 🙏
