We Chinese are not troublemakers, but we will not flinch when trouble comes our way. Intimidation, threat and blackmail are not the right way to engage with China. We will not let anyone take away the Chinese people’s legitimate right to development. We will not tolerate any attempt to harm China’s sovereignty, security and development interests. Judging from its actions, the U.S. doesn’t seem to be serious about having talks right now. If the U.S. truly wants to talk, it should let people see that they’re ready to treat others with equality, respect and mutual benefit. If the U.S. decides not to care about the interests of the U.S. itself, China and the rest of the world, and is determined to fight a tariff/trade war, China’s response will continue to the end.

The latest U.S. tariff hikes will essentially deprive countries of their right to development. This is particularly the case for Global South countries. It is estimated that those tariffs will further widen the wealth gap, and hit the less developed countries hardest. The tariffs will seriously cripple the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Development is a right for all, not a privilege for a few. Countries need to come together to uphold true multilateralism, oppose unilateralism and protectionism of all forms, and safeguard the international order with the UN at its core and the WTO-centered multilateral trading system.

China strongly condemns the U.S. attacks on Iran and bombing of nuclear facilities under the safeguards of the IAEA. The actions of the U.S. seriously violate the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and international law, and have exacerbated tensions in the Middle East. China calls on the parties to the conflict, Israel in particular, to reach a ceasefire as soon as possible, ensure the safety of civilians, and start dialogue and negotiation. China stands ready to work with the international community to pool efforts together and uphold justice, and work for restoring peace and stability in the Middle East.

Response to U.S. suggestion that it will significantly raise tariffs if China continues to purchase Russian oil: China will always ensure its energy supply in ways that serve our national interests. Tariff wars have no winners. Coercion and pressuring will not achieve anything. China will firmly defend its sovereignty, security and development interests.

China is deeply concerned about Israel’s attacks on Iran and the subsequent spike of military conflicts. We call for immediate measures to ease the tension, prevent greater turmoil in the region, and create conditions for resolving the issues through dialogue and negotiation.

Such hypocrisy and lack of responsibility for the US to blame China's normal trade with Russia while pouring unprecedented military aid into Ukraine. This is typical double standard.
