Prayer Request. I just received word that the first horse I ever trained all the way to ridable died of collic today. Worst way, imo, for a horse to die. Literally their gut ties in knots, and they get strangled to death via their own intestines. That's just how I envision it though. More accurately: “The gut twists on itself. Blood flow stops. The tissue begins dying. That is a race against time. If you dont get surgery fast, the horse can collapse and die.” In this case, she (the horse), died. The worst part is, we adopted her out to an 18 year old girl that used to help train every day after school, and for a year when she'd finished school early. That girl paid me for a year and a half so she could afford her (I significantly reduced my price for her, and allowed payments, something I almost never do - just so she could afford it). It's important especially for young people like that to know how much horse ownership costs, and not just a one-off cost, ongoing, so it's a qualifier more than anything profitable. Anyway, that poor girl, Caitlyn, loved Djanga (the horse) more than anything in the whole world, and today she had to watch her die like this and it's fuckin' me up a lot more than I'd like to admit. She wanted a horse her whole life. At 18, her parents couldn't say no anymore. She worked her ass off to get Djanga. Then she had her for only 4 years. Brutal how cruel life can be sometimes. Anyway. Please, pray for her. She's gonna need it.
