As someone who looks at anywhere from 5-40 sets of bloodwork weekly, here's patterns I've observed that are useful for people to understand: 1. There is an epidemic of low neutrophils. This means either infection, inflammation or a production issue (to over simplify it). 2.. Slightly raised insulin and HBA1C is very common and is often being missed by practitioners making mold/gut protocols who don't utilise blood chemistry. Blood sugar and metabolic issues can drive gut and microbial issues. 3. Iron anemia is VERY COMMON in women. People saying otherwise have no understanding of blood chemistry. 3. Following on from 2, looking at serum iron and ferritin is USELESS unless you understand how to view it in context of liver enzymes, transferrin/TIBC, hemoglobin, and transferrin sat % 4. Most people with gut issues have a deficiency in either B12, folate, zinc or B6. 5. It's very rare someone's health issues isn't reflected in their blood test. Even if their other practitioners said so. 6. The real hormone epidemic in women is not estrogen overload but progesterone deficiency. Low and high estrogen occur. Low and high testosterone occur. But low progesterone is almost a staple for modern women. 7. If a woman has low testosterone, optimizing it brings great improvement to libido. 8. Slightly raised bilirubin is a GREAT marker of SIBO (although still non specific) 9. Low GGT is thought not to be an issue in many functional blood courses - but in my view it reliably predicts poor health (especially in relation to oxidative stress, endotoxins or mitochondrial dysfunction). 10. Most people have red bloods cells that are too big (indicated by high MCV). This commonly comes from low B12 or folate, or inflammation - and compromises oxygen delivery around the body.
