Mid of this year was when I started taking content creation seriously Many times, I felt lost - especially with a full-time job The space with @Zeneca, alongside @CaptainCKeth and @waleswoosh helped contextualised on how I should really think about content creation 6 key learning points that really stuck with me from this session: → 1) Start with a Niche: Begin your journey by focusing on a specific topic. Consistent, high-value content in one area helps build authority and recognition. It’s better to be known as "the ___ person" (e.g., spreadsheet guy, AI guy) before expanding to other subjects *Personally this is the route I've taken - and will want to be known as the Lighter guy down the road → 2) Expand Gradually: Once you’ve established yourself in a niche and built genuine authority, you can strategically broaden your content scope This process is often misunderstood; new creators see successful multi-topic creators and try to emulate them too soon → 3) The "Swimmer’s Body Illusion": Don’t copy what successful creators are doing now; emulate what they did to become successful Much of their authority comes from focusing deeply on one area during their early days Take icobeast or Clemente from Blast, for example → 4) Consistency and Reputation: Staying relevant over time requires consistently showing up and providing value EVEN during slow periods or bear markets (in fact, the bear market is the best time to build) Maintaining a good reputation is vital And of course... avoid promoting scams lmao → 5) Long-Term Thinking: Build goodwill and genuine relationships Your standing in the community pays long-term dividends Content creation is a marathon, not a sprint → 6) Networking Tips: Build and grow your network by actively engaging with others in your space Reply to similar creators, send genuine messages, and look for ways to collaborate Approach relationships with a mindset of adding value and not transactional ──── ◁ II ▷ ──── Tbh, these were facts that I think many people already knew - but it's always good to have people with authority (e.g. Wale, CaptCK, and Zeneca) to cement that thought, and to contextualise with their personal examples Admittedly, I got lost alot of times > Brand building is really hard - especially with a full-time job > I was fortunate I had gotten connected with many people whom were more than willing to help me in this journey These 3-4 months, there were many days i've thought about giving up It wasn't the money that kept me here but genuinely, was the people i've gotten the pleasure to speak with over calls, and to connect with Maybe I wasn't meant to be a content creator but damn, do I love speaking to like-minded mfers on this platform
