To add to the simple part, she was a lot more gullible and dependable, taking advice from Peter of all people (Season 1, Episodes 2+3)

There is small, short-lived satisfaction in the infamous episode "Seahorse seashell party" in which she finally stands up for herself but this is all destroyed when she takes it back, to be a "lightning rod" (idfk, status quo)

Her personality could be best described as I said in the first tweet: Sweet and simple. She didn’t want much, was kind, and was just overall trying to fit in. She was bullied, and an outcast, but it was nowhere near as bad as future seasons. (Season 1, Episode 3)

Even though Meg got a lot of crap in this era, it wasn’t all too bad. She was shown to have a lot of skills and talents, such as playing various instruments: The cello, the saxophone, etc. Being able to dance, sing, act, cook, and be a better lady of the house than Lois.

At the time she was concerned with her looks, being insecure and envious of other girls her age. She also wanted a boyfriend, a car, etc. Yk, the usual. (Season 1, Episode 2)

As sweet as she was, she still did some pretty side-eyeable things such as making friends with a cult member (she didn’t know) or pretending to be Stewie’s mother as an unwed broke teenage mother for extra tips so she could purchase a luxury handbag (Season 2, Episode 5)

She was a drastically different character from today, even from a few seasons ago. She was even a different age, being 15 years old in the debut, as stated in the second ever episode: I never met the dead man.

This and an incident causes her to accidentally become a pop star

They also make her a LOT more intelligent, with her organizing an entire elaborate con to disguise herself as an old heiress to trick con-artists to get the debt off her back. She also tracked a Russian hackers exact location in a matter of minutes, and also speaks Russian too

And Chris, Stewie, and Brian decide that Meg’s happiness is worth more than 50K, showing genuine love and care for her. All this confirmed for me, that at least for now, and hopefully forever, that the Meg is a punching bag era has officially ended.

It’s funny because there’s two scenes where she gets a makeover and literally all they do is give her a new wardrobe 😭

She is also shown to become more mysterious and badass, with her doing something so illegal that she can’t be left alone and it’s never specified what it is.

Oh and to add to her list of talents, before I move on to the next section she’s also shown to be very athletic, having skills in roller derby, softball, and skiing

She doesn’t have much dialogue, there’s main few stories on her. And the writers do everything they can to make her unappealing in and out. She becomes a punching bag because, a room of men said they didn’t know how to write a teenage girl.

And of course, the fame gets to her head and she begins to act bratty

It’s also technically the start of the Meg is a punching bag era but imo it doesn’t get too bad yet. So we’ll be focusing on her specifically at this point. The first episode that focuses on her is fairly innocent: Don’t make me over- where she, gets a makeover.

Now why am I mentioning this? Well for this episode specifically, I’d like to compare it to a later episode where she got famous: Girl, internetted Now to be fair, it is an entirely different situation with Meg being a mukbang?? Technically. Internet sensation.

She’s also shown to have some medical skills as well, as shown in the episode “You can’t do that on television, Peter”

Oh yeah, she’s also 16 at this point. Probably aged around the same time after Stewie’s first birthday in Episode 3, as he was 0 before.

It’s Season 17, Episode 19, and while the fame doesn’t necessarily get to her head, as you can see, she still sacrifices her health to make content. Instead of beginning to treat others horribly, she starts to treat herself horribly.

Now back to seasons 4-8. This is the era where she fell in love with Brian and became obsessed with him in one episode (barely legal) where she hid a convict and went to jail, etc. (Dial Meg for murder)

So, the Meg bullying continues but instead of being bothered by it at some point she just stops caring. Well, meaning that it no longer gets to her. She sort of has a "shrug" sort of attitude as seen in season 18’s better off Meg.

She would do illegal activities and desperate acts for attention, and this carried out into season 9, where she got obsessed with Joe and started to take Bonnie’s place, so much to the point where she tried to cripple her self to be with him. Yeah just, big yikes all around.

However, like any influencer, she well- influences people to eat more and more. This causes her fellow classmates to become overweight, and she doesn’t want them to lose their feet like she did, so she begins to promote healthy eating. This shows the progress of her character

She starts acting like an 18 year old is I guess what I’m saying. Her personality begins to shift as well too, with her becoming more confident and laidback compared to the insecure outcast she was in the pilot.

Meg has been the butt of the joke for a while at this point, but I’d argue here is where it starts to get worse. So much to the point where you could consider her a victim of child abuse. With Peter constantly farting on her, and telling her: "Shut up, Meg", she’s turned pitiful

So they go to, ironically a therapist, to see what the matter is. The therapist confirms that the reason Meg is so happy isn’t because of the success of the business, but rather that she got to spend time with her family.

She does do a lot of irresponsible things such as blackmail Chris, attempt to roofie Chris over an obsession she had with a boy, her (and chris) cracking Stewie’s skull open, etc.

She begins to act more mature, while er, sorta compared to before. She isn’t as impressionable as season 1-3, not as irresponsible like seasons 4-15, but rather is more emotionally well-handled?? I guess you could say. There is an obvious shift in her mentality atp.

Like I said, she starts to have a badass personality which shows the progression of her no longer being influenced by others like first seasons and not letting anything get to her like middle seasons. She’s her own character, instead of a stereotype or a gag.

The way they make her cry is to just simply watch sad videos, the only time they resent to "bullying" her, is when she becomes so happy she can no longer cry, so they take drastic measures but it doesn’t work. She wants it to though, because Carter offered them 50K.

Think they’re trying to say being trans is “ridiculous” and “woke” and not being so is normal and simple but instead they (accidentally) made it look like being trans is this glamorous adventure whereas being not is mundane and lame LMFAO.

It gets better though, much better in the most recent season of Family Guy: Season 22. And I may be speaking too soon as we’re only 9 episodes in but it seems like the Meg is a punching bag era has… ENDED???

Modern Peter has a pretty balanced amount of normal and not normal scenes as someone who watches the show regularly, the not-normal ones just tend to trend as clips more, so (cuz funnier)

But Peter and Lois have nothing to do with it, and the idea to start a cookie business is somewhat Meg’s idea herself. Or she agreed with it. Point is, she wanted to. And her brothers, (and Brian too ig 🙄) help her run her business.

This is the same as previous, personality-wise. The only difference is, she’s no longer abused or bullied. Even when the absolute most perfect opportunity to struck: Baking sad

Then baking sad was announced, and the episode desc was: "Meg finds out her tears produced delicious cookies" Sounds like the perfect grounds for Meg bullying right? Especially with how greedy Peter and Lois are with benefiting off the success of their kids.

When the synopsis for this episode came out I was kind of worried. The first episode of the season was Meg centric, with her being a surrogate for Bruce + Jeffery. Another episode she and Lois have some mother-daughter bonding time, so things were going well.
