People arguing that these tests are failures because Starship took too much damage to be reused are missing the point. Starship showed that even with lots of tiles missing in critical places, it can still survive and land on target. It’s something the Space Shuttle couldn’t do.

I see many people dismissing Zhuque-3 as a Falcon 9 clone. If building a F9 “clone” were easy everyone would have done it by now, and you’d have a European F9, a ULA F9, etc. Space is hard and taking inspiration from a proven architecture is smart when you’re playing catch up.

Starship will have 3x the livable volume and 2x the payload of the Santa Maria, the ship used by Christopher Columbus to travel to the new world. SpaceX is building the space caravel that will take humanity to new Worlds.

Stoke Space isn’t getting enough attention in the space community. Aside from SpaceX they are the only company working on a fully reusable launcher. They are targeting next year for their maiden flight, and it looks like they might make it.

I’m sure some people in the military were watching this very closely. They are demonstrating the ability to land cargo anywhere on earth in under an hour, with very flexible trajectories.

Fully reusable rockets mean that if you’re under 40 and earning well you’ll likely get a chance to go to the moon during your lifetime! It might feel unrealistic, but cost is the reason you can’t go now, and full reusability will lower costs by several orders of magnitude.

For context the ISS has an internal pressurized volume of 900m3, only 50% higher. That means that 2 crewed starship in orbit will have more living volume than the ISS, which cost $100B and took over a decade to build.
