Back on the morning walks, after the trip, with lots of things to share! Today and tomorrow I will plan my priorities, my keep and my kill lists and see where we end up 💪 Ps: my English has degraded severely after the trip 😅

Day 2 of #100DaysOfCode -> Knocked out a LeetCode challenge, and asked ChatGPT for improvements afterwards! -> Read a chapter of Head First Java on GUI, fun stuff, though I’m not psychotic enough to do that 😂 -> First day back at the gym💪 Feeling the rhythm coming back!

After a 2 week break, I am back and ready to roll 💪 So many plans, so much to do, so much to catch up with... I am excited to get back into it 🚀🚀 Let's get this bad boy up again!

Shipless day... Stress took over today. For now, I will rest. Tomorrow, I will come back stronger💪

While polishing up the website and ironing out the last details I am contemplating next steps. 1. Automating defect analysis against regulations. Pros: I've already built the LLM microservice. It's a proven business. Will learn a lot. Cons: Main component is in ruby, and despite docker it doesn't compile on my machine. Also it's not my business. 2. Building an MVP - I don't have all the details yet. Pros: The lead dev is the best dev I know. Will learn a fuck ton from him. I enjoy working with this person a lot. Cons: It's not finalised yet - he might not accept the proposal. 3. Got a few ideas on my own to research. Super early stages yet. Cons is that I will self learn yet again. What do you guys think? 🧐

Life updates #3 🥳🥳 The video format is starting to grow on me! Only 6 takes and a half park walk to get this done... Still, no editing though 🤣 Walking seems to work wonders - if I'm sitting I feel like I don't know what to do with dem hands 🙌

Day 6/7 Did some leetcode in the AM and proceeded to spill my coffee over the laptop 💻 So much so that I cooked the motherboard and now it's sitting in a repair shop 🥲 Still did my usual chapter in the evening 📚

Sharing a small win from this morning 🌄 I regularly check Lighthouse to monitor performance and everything looks fine. The other day though I check Pagespeed instead, and I noticed that while desktop hits 90+, mobile version flags at 62 for my homepage. My homepage has a hero section and a bunch of wall text about the company. So what was happening? Browser renders the whole thing at once and due to the amount of text, it waits for every component to load before rendering. Fix: make everything but the hero section to load async. Vue provides a function called defineAsyncComponent. Basically it tells the browser to load the hero section, render it, and then load everything else. Minimal change, better UX and 90+ in mobile too now 💪 Keep building ⚒️

Learning a new language? Start with books, and then a project 📚 Books are an underrated treasure cove to learn a language from scratch. Type those examples out, read the tips and tricks and learn how the language is working. Then move on to a project and practice what you learned. I've done this with python 🐍 and it worked out well. Day 8/7 🌴 Yes! You read that right! One leetcode question, half a chapter (sad times...), moved 99% of my stuff to the new place (happy times), set my slack status to 🪆 and in just 5 hours I need to wake up to set off to the airport! Will come back in ~2 weeks with more goals and more Java

There's something special about X... I started posting here nearly two months ago, and slowly but surely, I've connected with some wonderful people. It already feels like a small, supportive family. A group of people I've truly resonated with and hope to meet in person one day to break bread and share stories with. Checking their posts, sending messages, and engaging, has become almost a daily ritual. Some of them have already achieved incredible things, others are just starting to blossom. I love to celebrate their wins as my own. It powers my own journey too. If they can make it, I can make it. Some days are just beautiful :)

Day 2/7 of Java -> Did not 1, but 2 leetcode challenges! Took me some time, but I got there eventually. Not necessary the best solutions, but they were taken down! -> Did 1 chapter of Head First Java that went a bit deeper on classes and creating a mini game. Struggled a bit with the code example, but we still got there at the end! -> Had some conversations with my boss and the VP of Engineering and after I am back from AL, I will start some courses on the learning budget, and I will have some dedicated time with the engineers to upskill and ask questions! TOMORROW I ALSO HAVE A CALL WITH ONE OF THE HOODIE COMPANIES FOR FEEDBACK. Big Ws all around. See you tomorrow gentlemen

Day 17... I think... By searching and digging a bit deeper I discover Pagespeed - an enhanced version of Lighthouse. Basically, Lighthouse spits out results about the page you are currently on. Pagespeed shows you the performance across both mobile and desktop. Interesting discovery - my mobile performance is nowhere near close to my desktop one 🤦 In the absence of a new project I will obsess over that in the next couple of days. The above also means that I need to enhance my CI checks...

As a good and aspiring data engineer, we first have to understand the business domain and do our flowchart. So what does a backtesting system consists of? Very roughly, it's 3 main components: - Financial data: Which ticker? Which timeframe? Which timeperiod? i.e. MSFT, 2020-2025, daily candles - Financial data: Which ticker? Which timeframe? Order Side? How to combine them? e.g. BUY at moving average 7 crossing over the 20 AND RSI > 20. SELL at the 20 over 7 cross and RSI > 80. - Risk: What's your portfolio size? What's your trade size? What's your tp and stop loss. We are going to implement a basic version of the above. PS: There are a lot more things that you can do, but I'll leave additional complexity to the curious minds to implement... most likely. I hope this will serve as a basic starting point to spark interest

Boy am I cooked today... I spent 3 hrs today on pretty much nothing A) my solicitors has fucked up somewhere and they have messed up the phone dial options so I had to spend 30 mins in the queue to CS to get redirected to the actual department I wanted to talk to B) 2 hours! In the post office queue. I had a special parcel to send to my gf's family and I had to wait in the queue three times to not do anything in the end. 1st time l: we don't accept packages more than 5kg (it was 6kg). 2nd time: bought smaller boxes, unpacked, repackaged, waited in the queue. Boxes were 2.1. Declined. 3rd time: unpacked only one box and kept it at 1kg. Waited in the queue to tell me they were wrong and it is completely prohibited......... Context: Gf is Russian, we visit next week for the first time. I wanted to send olive oil from my parents' olives. Now I'm looking at fridges and washing machines
