just got off call with this 14y/o self-taught dev from a remote town in Jharkhand @ronitrajfr It was meant to be a full-stack role interview, but honestly, I was there for the story! Bro Discovered discord early, made cracked friends - enjoyed playing games, then learnt how to create a game - works with typescript, nextjs, postgresql, tailwind - already interned as a web developer and has live projects showcased on his portfolio. The conversion revolved around how to optimize for learning and the path going ahead. - intoduced him to @paulg essays - couldn't recommend @karpathy enough - we talked about 'increasing surface area of luck' and why documenting is important But such stories coming from the remotest towns of Bharat 🇮🇳 gives me a hope for a better, glorious future! exciting times ahead! do checkout his portfolio 👇

i fed my full 75-min chat with @sajithpai into NotebookLM; here are my biggest takeaways👇 1. VC is Enterprise Sales: Venture Capital is primarily sales, not investing. The goal is to attract founders who don't need your money. 2. The Asset Picks the Picker: The best companies and elite founders pick the VC, not the other way around. VCs must focus on making their brand of capital attractive. 3. Be the "Only": Sajith found success by being the "monopolist VC writer" in India ; the intersection of a VC who writes and a writer who invests. Founders should strive to be the "only" in their chosen space. 4. Distribution Matters: If a founder has followers (e.g., 13k Twitter subs, 6k YouTube subs), it signals they understand distribution and how to iterate for algorithms. Attention is the choke point in the digital world. 🗣️ Founder Storytelling & Product 5. Sell the Story, Not the Product: Early-stage investors (and customers) are buying the founder's story - a narrative that seamlessly connects the product, the founder's life, and their mission. Fundamentally, people don't buy a product; they buy a story. 6. Find Your Nerds: Even in "boring" fields like ERP, you can find interesting trivia or challenging details to attract a subculture of "nerds" obsessed with that topic. Start writing on reddit. This helps distribution. 7. Refine Your Core Idea: Spend significant time defining your core product idea so it is easy to understand and "dumbproof". An idea that is easy to understand spreads. 8. The Importance of "The Pick": Obsess about the space you choose (the "pick"). If the problem is acutely painful, people will pull a "half-baked" product out of your hands. Spend 4-8 months refining your pick. 🤖 The Future of AI (Second-Order Effects) 9. AI is 1920s Electricity: We are currently focused on the underlying technology (LLMs, RAG) rather than the application. The technology must disappear and become "on tap" before the biggest impacts are seen. 10. Focus on Second-Order Effects: The massive value will be created by anticipating the second-order effects of plentiful, cheap AI. 11. The Rise of Digital Twins: A second-order effect: In five years, everyone will have a highly personalized digital twin (a "Pai-bot for Sajith maybe"). 12. Bots Negotiate Life: These digital twins will continuously converse and negotiate with other bots (for jobs, appointments, or romance), setting up meetings and matches only when conditions are mutually agreed upon. 13. Approach VCs as Equals: Founders should approach pitches with the confidence that they know the problem better than anyone, and the VC is "privileged to witness" something magical. 15. Reduce Cognitive Load: Explain your complex idea with a simple, memorable hook (e.g., "Google Analytics for your body"). 16. Speak the Customer's Language: When pitching, explain the product from the customer's lens (how it solves their problem), not from the technical side. 17, Use FOMO: Constantly convey, "This could be big," as VCs hate missing out on money and big successes. 18. Don't Ask for Permission: Communicate confidently and crisply. Do not ask for permission (e.g., "Can I send you my deck?"). Just send it. 19. Listen Until Repetition: When interacting with customers, continue building and selling until you start hearing the same stories and insights repeatedly. Once you hear the 15th customer repeat the same thing, go back and build. at last, he said something off camera: Don't wait for anyone’s approval; nobody in this world cares about you and everyone is busy in their own lives; so go out there and do it !!!

“do you want to sell sugar water your whole life, or do you want to come with me and change the world?” that’s how jobs recruited the ceo of pepsi to apple. what did he focus on? purpose. last week, i wrote a note to myself: “work on important problems; don’t waste your 20s chasing cheap capital.” many go their whole lives without realizing this, wondering why they don’t feel fulfilled even after having everything. how to solve this? focus on meaningful work. why? because when i focus on meaningful work, everything clicks. the universe conspires. serendipity kicks in. setbacks don’t sting as much because i’m invested on a deeper level. it’s not just about making a buck; it’s about driving impactful change. building an app that gets you a pair of jeans in 20 minutes? sure, it’s cool, but does it really matter? there’s a big difference between what’s trendy and what’s necessary. yes, it’s harder, but the rewards are emotional, even spiritual. you feel like you’ve earned your place in the world. this is the true essence of entrepreneurship—where startups becomes a force for good, and success is measured by the lives we touch. others are just businesses. right now, i’m obsessed with creating tools that change the way we look at preventive healthcare. in 2025, i’ll be working on such problems in healthtech at @_TheResidency where they back ambitious folks focused on working on important issues—something bigger than themselves. godspeed. come join🚀
